We are visiting WUSL in the near future and my D sent a few coaches an email, hoping they would make an effort to meet with her. What are the chances that they will respond? She has very good track stats and also loves to play volleyball. She has been approached by a few schools for track but they are not up to her academic level. Would her interest in either of these sports help her in the admissions process and does anyone belong to a team and how does it relate to getting classwork done?

I’m sure the coaches would be interested in meeting her. However, keep in mind that WashU is a Division III school and therefore gives no athletic scholarships. Additionally, coaches do not have pull in admissions. WashU students are first students, then athletes.

You can ask the coaches what kind of track times they are looking for. Not sure how vb works. Emails should be between your daughter and coaches preferably. They will want to know her test scores and gpa as well. Keep them updated with new prs. My son did school visits in the spring/summer of his jr year, some fall overnights sr year with teams. Schools vary in how they much they support their athletes in admissions.

Speaking from experience as a WUSTL parent, the track coach will love to meet your daughter; as he did mine (though it was after she was accepted). Keep in mind it is track season (meet going on this weekend) so he might be distracted - [Track & Field | Bear Sports | Washington University in St. Louis](<a href=“Washington University in St. Louis - Official Athletics Website”>Washington University in St. Louis - Official Athletics Website) is their home page. I would go when you can watch a meet, and hang with the team in the bleachers (arranged ahead of time, of course).

Make sure you ask for your d to spend a night with a member of the team (though more often for seniors). Might just get my daughter, and her XC/track roommate!
