Visiting

Where do you recommend I stay at when I'm visiting Williams/Amherst with my parents this summer (preferably somewhere economical like Best Western/Travelodge)?
Also, what is there to see in Williamstown? Where can I get good food???

There are a bunch of places you can stay in Williamstown or North Adams. There's a Holiday Inn in North Adams a number of smaller motels, hotels, and B&B's in Williamstown. A quick search should yield you some names and prices.

You can get some decent food on spring street, which is more or less on campus. There's a deli, a Thai place, an Indian place, and a Subway. There are also restaurants on Rt. 2 (a pan-Asian place called Chopsticks) and in North Adams.

dooit,
You should realize that Williamstown is in the middle of a vacation area and this is the high season for all hotels. To make it even more difficult to find a reliable place to stay, there are no brand name hotels in Williamstown and the Holiday Inn in North Adams is the only one I know of in the area, and I wouldn't call that "budget."

You can get a comprehensive list of the lodging in the area in the Visitors area of the Williams web site. Many of the hotels in the list have direct links to their own web sites. I can recommend two of the places we've stayed - Maple Terrace Inn and the 1896 House. During the week, I think the Maple Terrace Inn would be under $100 (at least before tax), and it is very close to campus.

Good luck.
