The Williams web site lists 21 places to stay in Williamstown (6 within walking distance of campus) and quite a few more around the area. I would be interested to hear if anyone has an opinion on any of them - quality, atmosphere, price, etc. (Students - where do your parents like to stay and why?) I would be especially interested in hearing which of the B&Bs is/are most popular.

I'm especially partial to the Williamstown B&B. Spotlessly clean, well run, great breakfasts AND right on campus. It's very popular so book in advance. A lot of people like the Williamstown Inn, but I find it rather dreary.

The Williams Inn is overpriced, IMO. Generally all of the places to stay within walking distance are clean and comfortable, so if that's enough for you (it's enough for me), pick the cheapest and closest.

I agree with the criticisms of the Williams Inn...great location, but it's essentially just an expensive motel. The Orchards is on the high end, but the rooms and service are great, the restaurant is excellent, and it's also within walking distance of campus...3 or 4 minutes by foot to Water St. If you bring a pet, as we sometimes do, you may like the rustic cabins at Jericho Valley Inn, about 10 minutes outside of town, and also about 10 minutes from Jiminy Peak if you want to ski. We also like The 1896 House suites, which are about 10 minutes (tops) outside of town on Route 7.

I liked the Maple Terrace Inn. It's not really within walking distance, but it's close. Has a lovely garden area.

1896 House is a nice motel, a mile (?) or so south of campus.

I stayed at the Northside motel.....not bad at all. It was quite cheap, they offered a simple breakfast in the morning (bagels, coffee, cereal) and it was located right behind some of the dorms (Carter ).

Hey, Stacey...I also stayed in the Northside Motel! =D. It has a great location (about 20 feet from campus) and a cheap price. Can't go wrong with it unless you'd prefer to stay at a 3 or 4 star hotel such as the Williams Inn.

Great Minds think alike! Yea, I mean, it had all I needed and it was so close to the campus. And I did check out the Williams Inn at one point...... "whoa" was all I could say.
