Visiting!

So I'm going on an East Coast college tour (with my family) starting this Wednesday. I couldn't be more excited. I am, of course, visiting Georgetown. Has anyone visited before? What are some things that I should be sure to see? Any tips for making the most of my visit? Thanks! :D

PS- the other colleges I am seeing are: Tufts (for my twin, not me), Boston College, Trinity College (twin), UPenn, and Haverford (twin).

I visited! Loved it, of course. I actually sat in on a class and I'm really glad I did. You might want to consider doing that too. Other than that I just took the tour and wandered around a bit after. It is sooo beautiful!

Oh and Tufts is awesome too.

Have fun!!

Thanks, Lauren! Which class did you sit in on? I was thinking about doing that, too, and now I will. Anyone else?

PS- I hope Tufts is awesome, since my twin applied ED! And he hasn't even visited!

go to explore.georgetown.edu and check the class schedule, if that helps....

Thanks, Hoyadan :)

I think it was just an entry level IR class. I don't remember exactly which one. I spoke to the lady at the admissions desk while I was waiting for the tour to start. She helped me choose a class and pointed me in the right direction. Apparantely this is normal and welcomed, so long as you don't come late/leave early. (Therefore you should check to make sure it's a shorter class, not a 2 hour one for example).

My guess is that your twin will love Tufts. It is a great school!

you applied EA without visiting, calidan? wow. Only after I'd visited Gtown did I know that I definitely wanted to go there.

I know! I just fell in love with it after reading many things about it. I am sure that I will not be disappointed, though. Hey, at least EA isn't binding (which is why I did it). I was thinking about applying ED to Columbia, but then I was like "what if I get in and I end up hating it since I've never visited?" So I applied EA to GTown and never looked back! I am very happy with my decision. Thanks for the info, everyone!

I understand you calidan, I fell in love with Gtown just by the website, and I absolutely LOVE it here! :)

I knew I wanted to go to G-town w/o visiting due just to what I was able to find online. I visited this past summer, however, and as soon as I saw the old, massive buildings appear as we turned the corner on an old one-way coblestone street, I said, "Yep...I want to go here." :)

I was only able to stay about half-an-hour, but hopefully I'll be spending much more time there this fall. :)

Josh, are you planning on visiting anytime soon?

No--my reference to "spending much more time there this fall" actually meant spending more time there NEXT fall...as having been accepted and enrolling @ G-town. :)

If accepted, I probably will take another, more thorough trip back to DC just to make sure that that's where I want to spend the next four years. But no, I'm not going to take another trip before we all get our letters.

i visited DC for Reagan's funeral, then visited Georgetown the next day...so I was in an odd mood...but I still loved Gtown regardless

I've never visited and I applied early, as well. In fact, I have only visited one of the seven colleges I am applying to. (Not by choice, my mom seems to not believe in college visits, nor does she particularly accept that I want to go to the East Coast and tries to discourage me at every possible turn).
