Visitor from Germany

I´m a 43 years old mechanical engineer from Germany ( federal land: Saarland ) and I´m planning a visit of the Stevens Institute of Technology. I´ll take also my 11 years old daughter with me in view to the following reasons:

  • I´m very interested in the higher US education and especially in ( mechanical ) engineering. I´d like to get an impression of what a famous US college/university could be.
  • I´d like to initiate my daughters interest for the American culture, the English language and - above all - for an academic education.

I have the following questions and maybe there´s someone who could answer:

  1. Is there a possibility to stay at Stevens for one or two nights?
  2. Which accommodation could you recommend for a stay nearby Stevens and with a good/uncomplicated connection to Manhattan (for sightseeing)?
  3. Is there a chance to get a private guided (engineering) tour with a sophomore or senior? Maybe female as a model for my daughter.
  4. Which kind of official guided (engineering) tour do you recommend?
  5. Is there maybe a Germanophile community at Stevens that I could direct to?

cheers
Allenmagne

Diplomarbeit [ Thesis ]

Hello- I am a parent of a Stevens student.

I have added some links at the bottom to help you in your planning. I do not think that Stevens would let you stay on campus. The W Hotel is a very short walk from Stevens, and you could take the PATH train in to visit the city (also a short walk).

http://www.whoboken.com/ (hotel booking site)

It’s a bit expensive but very convenient.

I would call and talk to someone in admissions regarding which tour would be best for you and your daughter. Stevens seems to be very interested in admitting women and I would mention that you would prefer a female student guide.

If you are interested in speaking with someone in our office regarding International Undergraduate Admission, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 201-216-5194 or admissions@stevens.edu

Good luck and I hope you get more answers~

Hello “rualum”,
