-So I'm pretty set on getting an ultrabook for college.
-I've narrowed it down to the Vizio 14' thin + light or Sony Vaio 14' T.
-I feel like both of these are the two best values out there right now when it comes to ultrabooks (or if you guys know any better deals feel free to post)
-I'm leaning towards the Vizio, but I'm still a little uneasy on buying a laptop from a company with no previous PC history and no reviews are out yet. I think it came out this week.
-Do you all have any comments on either brand, or a suggestion for a different company?

I am Not yet a college student but I know that Sony vaio is just not worth it! Srsly I have a few articles stating that these laptops just look good…but feature wise they are not really that impressive…I dont know about the other one …but vAio is deffinately not A good choice! Even my nephew who has a vaio regretted after buying one.

The expensive Vaios are nice but the cheap ones aren’t worth it.
Feature wise they outclass MacBook Airs.
My friends who bought Vaios 4 years ago still have them today in working condition so saying all Vaios are bad is not an accurate statement.

People who don’t know about hardware tend to overgeneralize.
With that being said , if you are stuck between a Vaio T series and a Vizio , you should wait for the reviews from good sources ( PCmag , Anandtech , etc ) at least. Specifications matter a lot so do your research on what would fit your needs the best and then see what laptops on the market suit you.

Clever.
Prior to CC, I checked NBRF and they didn’t have a single thread on the Vaio T in the Sony forum and the Vizio forum had no activity.

What do you mean by saying the cheap Vaios “aren’t worth it”? The $800 T seems pretty standard (3rd gen i5, Intel 4000, 4gb RAM), the only difference is the hard drive which is a hybrid and the reason why the cost is $200 less.

13.3" LED backlit display (1366 x 768) vs 13.1" 1920 x 1080 (on the higher Sony model)
Also there will be more Ultrabooks coming out in July so it’s better to wait unless you need one before the end of July or you get a really good deal on one.

When I said cheap Vaios , I was mostly referring to in the past the cheaper Vaios had more problems than the expensive ones but that doesn’t really apply anymore.

Ok thanks guys, I may hold off for now since I really only need it by end of August. @del_psi, what ultrabooks are coming out in July? A quick google search didn’t really show anything.

I visited a Sony Style store to look at the Vaio T. It’s a very nice laptop. It has a lot of ports (Ethernet, VGA, and more) that a lot of ultra books don’t have. The hybrid drive is a nice because it boots fast but has a lot of storage for files. The body of the laptop is great. It’s sturdy and made of metal. I was surprised at how nicely built it is.

If you’re I between the two, try to get some hands on time with them.
