Vocabulary

I'm finally a junior in high school this year. :) I'm taking a SAT prep course in school right now and it's ending in 3 weeks. They gave us "The Official SAT Study Guide" and in addition, I purchased "Barron's Math Workbook for the New SAT."

My verbal teacher for the SAT course gives us around 40-50 vocab words each week and we put it on index cards. She also gives us practice tests for homework and we go over it in class. She suggested to look up the words we do not know in the sentence completion part & learn the definitions. That's a lot of words, is it worth doing that or a waste of time?

I'm starting to read more too [I never read before] and my english teacher also gives us 15-20 words each week.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm taking the SAT in March so I have quite a bit of time to prepare for it.

I think it's worth doing, but unless it's going to impact you as you go through the course, you could probably wait to do that til it's over. Too many words at once, not good.

Thanks! I will wait until the course is over. I'm just making a list for now and after the course is over, I will focus on it and the Barron's list with the 3500 words.

Anyone else?
