I have a quick question about the extracurricular activities/volunteering section of the UC application. I'm planning on volunteering at a museum, and my scheduled job duties (as well as the days I will be volunteering) has been finalized. However, I'm waiting for the museum to finish scheduling their required training courses that all incoming volunteers need to take. Once I finish those training classes, I'm all set to begin volunteering.

So, how would you all suggest that I handle this? Should I note in the volunteer section that I will begin volunteering at the museum later this year as soon as I take the required training courses? Or, is it best to leave the entire section blank? I want to note that I will be volunteering at the museum, since my exact schedule and volunteering tasks are all set. However, the only problem is that the museum is revamping the training courses and haven't scheduled them yet. Until I take those courses, I can't start volunteering at the museum.

Any and all suggestions are welcome! Thank you.

they don’t care

mostly what they look at in transfers is units, GPA, prereqs, IGETC…

the essay is here

EC’s are way down here

and the amount of time you put into your EC’s is here

if you want to write in the additional comments box…you can…but from what I was told by a Berkeley app reviewer, they don’t like to waste time reading unnecessary garbage that doesn’t matter to anyone (like everyone else in the world)

well if your applying to a school like haas Ec’s matter, but otherwise ^^^ what he said.

Wow, do they actually read the essays?

I had pretty crappy ec’s and decent everything else and got into Cal so I’ve always wondered what got me in.

Well, whether or not the university weighs the Extracurricular Activities section heavily, I’d still like to make a note of volunteering at the museum. I’m just not sure how (or when) I should handle it, due to the circumstances noted in my first post.

Hiroshi - Will they have the schedule locked down before 11/30? If so, wait to submit the application and add it in.

I’ll have to play it by ear and see, AMorrison. But I’ll try that. Hopefully the schedule will be completed by mid-November. Thanks for your reply! :)
