Volunteering Programs

Pre-College Issues Summer Programs

Hey so for the summer I think we should compile a nice big list of volunteering programs.

To start off:

Wilderness:

  1. AMC Teen Trail Crew ($)
  2. SCA Volunteer High School (free but need to apply)

Study Abroad/Volunteer:

  1. Rustic Pathways ($$$)
  2. Projects Abroad ($$$)
  3. IS Volunteers ($$$)
  4. Cross Cultural Solutions ($$$)
  5. GVI ($$$)
  6. Visions Service ($$$)
  7. Global Volunteers ($$$->$$) (1 week to 2 week few hundred difference)
    (These are way expensive)

-Local: Hospitals, libraries, elderly homes etc.

Also if anyone would like to give a review of the programs that would be great!
I’m looking into the SCA program, so anyone have an opinion on it? Thanks!

http://mda.org/summer-camp/volunteer It seems most states have thier own camp. No cost, not a huge time commitment for students who have other time commitments, DS really got a lot out of it here last year and will do it again before he goes to uni.
