Vroom vroom?

What is transportation at stanford like?

I know freshman can't have cars but some still do and practically everyone rides bikes, but i was just wondering how many people have cars and how common it is?

i really don't like driving and am pretty horrible at parking. well, actually, i'm really uncoordinated on a bike as well, but I think the potential damage is a lot less.

so anyways, what is the prevalence of cars on campus? what are the pros/cons to cars and bikes? any other imput on how to get around the stanford campus?

Hmm.. I would really like to see the lastest number of people on the waitlist since they started EA single choice. I got waitlisted and i'm still holding out some slim hope...

While I'm not a Stanford student, I've been on the campus a number of times, and I'd say the bike vs. car decision is a matter of personal preference. If you intend to just stay on campus most of the time, a bike is definitely sufficient and a car would be quite an inconvenience. If you plan on venturing out reasonably often (and you don't have friends willing to drive you), a car might be worth it. Have you checked out transportation.stanford.edu? It includes info on Stanford's free shuttle (the Marguerite), and I believe it provides links to Caltrain, VTA, and BART sites as well.
