So far nine people posted on this thread that they were accepted to Princeton from Waitlist. Any guess, how many total number of people might have gotten the call?

If you have until next Thursday to respond, does that mean that the adcom is holding your spot until then?

I also received the acceptance call from Princeton this morning. Actually was on the 5th but I couldn’t pick up the phone.

This kind of complicates the college scene for me because up until now I was set on Williams College. Princeton is Princeton so consideration is a must, but I prefer the individualized attention of a liberal arts college. But, Princeton is D1 and I want to compete at that level…

x__x <–me right now

If you’re an international student, do you think they will still call you? Or e-mail?
Also, do they notify you if they decide to NOT take you off the wait list? so that we are not waiting forever…?

Wizzle- Williams and Princeton are both tops; Princeton does have a stronger undergraduate focus than other top “Ivies”, e.g. Harvard comes to mind, but the decision to go with a top LAC vs. a top university fundamentally hinges on the greater intensity/intimacy of the undergraduates’ interaction with a first-rate faculty truly dedicated to teaching.

I was on the wait list and received the call on Wednesday.

Congratulations!!!

Thanks! Same to you!!

The thing is, I like Williams’s academics more. Their focus on an individualized undergraduate education is more to my liking than Princeton’s. Then again, its not like I’m shunning my education by going to Princeton…

Btw, anyone know how to proceed from here?

Well, you won’t ever have the 2 students, 1 prof tutorial offered by Williams at Princeton, although you may have small upper level classes and good interaction with your senior thesis advisor. Williams is also in a much more beautiful (but isolated) physical location with good hiking right off campus. Balance this against the easy access to NYC at Princeton. The main academic advantage of Princeton is that it offers many more classes than Williams (as well as a bigger library). If Williams offers everything you want, that may not be an issue. Good luck on your choice!

From your posts, it sounds as though you would be happiest at Williams: its a great school, you can’t go wrong.

Wizzle, go to Princeton. Williams is no where close to Princeton.

Hey, is there any International applicant out there, who got accepted to Princeton from the Wait-list??
Btw, I have been wait-listed and I am from Bangladesh…
Still didn’t hear anything from Princeton…Keeping my fingers crossed, perhaps till June…:-[
Do they select international applicants later on?? Any idea?
Please update me…

To state that “Williams is no where close to Princeton” is akin to saying that an “Aston Martin is no where close to a Cadillac Escalade”: both serve their functions admirably, although size and the average Joe knowing the name will differ. Princeton, to its credit, is trying to approximate the undergraduate educational quality of a Williams, Amherst or Swarthmore, but Professors still have alot of graduate and post-graduate responsibilities.

I’m an international student waiting too! I haven’t heard anything as well…
I wonder how they call you from across the world… I’m hoping they just e-mail us.

wizzle, go to Williams. There are other people who would die to go to Princeton and if you don’t…then don’t go. + Williams is an amazing school!

wow!! it’s amazing to actually see people getting off of waitlists, especially for princeton!!! the val and sal of my school haven’t gotten off of any waitlist yet but i think they already know where they want to attend.

singaporean international studying in the uk here. I think they call people if they’re accepted whether they’re us citizens or not. I was waitlisted for columbia and got off yesterday, hoping for princeton but so so grateful for columbia. best of luck everyone!

ha!, now we are getting into funny talk

dad2, you are a lilte off here aren’t you?

if Princeton is a Cadillac Excalade in your scenario, then Williams isn’t even an automobile…it would be more like a child’s tricycle.

Re: Princeton v. Williams

Williams has a student/faculty ratio of 7:1. Princeton is 5:1 and if you include all the graduate students, it is 7:1 as well. Princeton (and Dartmouth/Brown for that matter) are effectively the same as AWS in terms of a personalized, UG-focused education.
