My daughter got excepted to Foxcroft school. It was her dream school. I was happy that she got accepted but the next day I addition files can in the mail. And a letter said she was wait listed for finical aid even though she was accepted.
She is literally crying an I feel bad?
Should I tell her to keep her hopes up? Should we wait? Does she even have a possiablity to get in?

I think this post would be better suited on the prep school forums – but nevertheless; try to just wait it out and see what happens in terms of financial aid. Maybe some people will decline the offer and that’ll free up some aid - you never know.

I know the feeling you’re describing exactly - I was accepted to a private academy in Connecticut but was unable to attend because of no financial aid; they expected my family to pay in full which was simply not an option - it can be tough but it certainly isn’t the end of the world.

It is easy to get caught up in the notion of a dream school; whether its a high school or a college - but you should let go of the idea; prestige means less and less in a rapidly growing global economy - don’t have a dream school; have a dream life - there are many paths for your daughter to take to get to where she wants to be in 15 years; and hard work makes all of those paths possible.

I wish you the best of luck.
