Wait List Question

I was just denied admission to San Diego State University. :(:(:(.

I'm on the wait list. I'm really bummed.

But I wanted to know what wait list chances are, and since they don't tell you until the first week of May... do I have to like, give up going to any other school? The deadline is May 1st for my other schools.

Let me know. Thx.

if you there's no decision made before May 1 you need to send a deposit (usually between $200-$600) to your second choice school on May 1. If you do get accepted off the waitlist after May, you can surrender your deposit at your second choice school and accept a spot at San Diego, where you will have to send a deposit or you can deny the spot at San Diego and go to your second choice school

anyone know how many are on the waitlist and if people get off of it ever?
any suggestions on who to contact?
thanks

Look on the website, they usually have statistics about these things, even though the #'s are up this year, (or so articles have suggested...) I would have your CG call on your behalf. I would also write a letter. There's a Newsweek article about improving your chances if waitlisted, look it up. I know a guy who got into Williams off the waitlist, they called beforehand and made him assure them that he would take the spot if offered. I'm not quite sure how he did it, he was not an athlete, had no "hooks" and even had a C...BTW, he had wanted to go to another school (good but not quite as good) but his parents made him go to Williams. He had a bad first year there, makes you wonder about being careful for what you wish for.
