Wait-list Statistics at Yale?

It has not yet been published. Usually released in the YDN. A little late this year…

They’re probably waiting to make the announcement until after they get answers from the group of students offered admission from the waitlist. Yield will presumably go up (although the acceptance rate will, too).

How many students were accepted from the waitlist in the first round?

AHH HELP-YALE OR PENN? I committed to Penn already and I am off yale’s waitlist…

Did Yale offer you a free t-shirt once your were offered a spot or did you just ordered one on your own expense?

Masterurs2010,
Go to Yale unless you like PENN for specific reasons. My son is going to Yale(accepted RD).

Masterus–

You may want to shoot dan92 a PM, he was in the exact same situation as you a couple days ago, and ended up choosing Yale. You can ask him what made up his mind.

@s0cc3r - I clicked on the “free t-shirt” tab at the top of the admitted students website and it told me that I would receive the shirt in a few weeks.
@Masterus2010 - as MSauce already said, I was in the same position as you are last week, and I ended up choosing Yale (after revisiting the campus). The three most important deciding factors were probably Yale’s residential college system, undergraduate focus, and shopping period, although many other factors were involved as well. What are you interested in? Are you in Penn SAS or another school? Feel free to PM and I will try to help as much as I can, although in the end you should really do what feels right. Can you see yourself more at one unversity than the other? Good luck; no matter how difficult it is, you are in a very fortunate situation and it is a great decision to have to make.

My son’s snail mail welcome packet from Yale came on Saturday exactly 1 week after he got the call off the waitlist. Thank God he got in. We are from a small town and he is the first ever to be accepted at an ivy league school. He wanted someplace on the cutting edge of research and with international opportunities. Biomedical engineering will be his field. Has already withdrew from Miami where he was going to be a Foote Fellow.

bummmmmmmp

what was the reply date for the first round?

^May 19th.

Does anyone know Yale’s yield rate yet?

The people who got off the waitlist must reply by tomorrow right? After that, what the chances of them accepting more people?

I was told by my regional admissions officer that they would be sending out a second round of waitlist acceptances in late May, probably after May 25.

^hmmm, well in that case, does that mean we can still send them updates?

xmintyfresh: Why not? Can’t hurt, might help.

bump. i hate waiting. i just want to know.

Got a reply from my regional admissions officer today saying they’re still deciding how many offers to make in the second round, if any.

I called and they said that it could take as long as the end of June for everything to settle down.

In other words, devote to another school.
