good question. from what I’ve heard, it takes them a few days to decide who let in for the first round of wait-lists, so I think there’s still a chance they are deciding. But who knows, either way the odds are very small.

I just got off the wait-list a few days ago. Why I think I did: I emailed them telling them my new awards (Presidential Scholar [1/141 nation-wide], National Merit Award Winner, Superior Distinction in National Forensic League). Also: the wait-list is there mainly to fill quotas, so I’m assuming enough North Africans/Middle Easterns/Dual Nationalities/Men/Appalachians decided not to matriculate. Anyway…yeah. I don’t know if I’m going yet, but we’ll see.

Also, I come from a very small town, and another student was admitted and is going. I think that hampers my chances quite a bit is that right?

I haven’t received the call and I will just give up and let it go.

^ Wsj - I will join you :]
I’m just letting it go. Too much of a headache.

Does anyone know when students admitted from the waitlist should receive their acceptance packets? How long does is usually take?

good question. I’d like to know as well

Has anyone gotten a Yale email account?
It said I’d be able to after I activated my NetId but I can’t find anywhere to do it.
Thanks

I just got accepted to Yale off the waitlist. Certainly unexpected. I’m struggling to decide now between Yale and Harvey Mudd.

I thought it would be interesting for people to read the email that Yale sends to someone off the Waitlist who has been selected. Here it is:

Dear …,

By now, we hope you have received a call from your area admissions officer giving you the good news about your admission to Yales Class of 2014! Congratulations, and welcome to Yale.
At this point, you should be able to log onto our Online Decisions site at www.admits.yale.edu/reply to view your letter of admission. Your financial aid award (if applicable) should be available tomorrow. You can also visit our admitted student website at www.admits.yale.edu. Please feel free to get in touch with your admissions officer with any questions. Our staff directory can be found here.
Again, congratulations, and we hope to see you in New Haven next fall!
Sincerely,
Yale Admissions

I’ve given up, but, do waitlistees get t-shirts if accepted? Just wondering.

You’re going to Harvard (or MIT?), Millancad. Be happy. I mean, you’re only going to the world’s best college. Don’t sound so defeated.

Oy, sorry if I sounded defeated. I was trying to come off as matter-of-fact. I’m super happy and absolutely in love with my future school, which will be MIT, not Harvard. (I wrote my location when I was still deciding between the two and haven’t changed it since 1) I’m lazy and 2) it’s still accurate. I should probably get around to doing that.)

Second time posting this but…
PEOPLE WHO GOT IN.
Please provide your stats and what measures you took to get off the waitlist!!!
Thanks!

Millancad, if you get a password to the admits site, my guess is you get to ask them for a T-shirt.

Does anyone know Yale’s 2014 yield rate?

Has anyone who got off the wait list received information in the mail yet?

As of today, No snail mail. Did receive congratulatory email and link to financial aid offered.

I received my packet this morning!!
@xmintyfresh - the only update I sent to Yale after being waitlisted was a two sentence blurb about how I won the National Merit 2500 Scholarship. However, I did write them a letter after being deferred…

@Millancad - yes, I ordered the t-shirt already
