WAIT LIST THREAD - Class of 2015! Which schools are going to their Wait Lists?

So...It is April 21st...Have any schools been calling/emailing/snailmailing? Have they gone to their wait lists yet? Have they closed/released their wait lists? Anything yet? Please post results and your thoughts.

We already have another thread, ready to go, which will keep all the schools listed. It is the same title as the 2010 thread. Expect the list/thread to get going from May 1st. Please do not have two threads on this topic because it’ll get confusing and/or redundant. You can see how that 2010 list grew and it will begin again here:

Please note, that thread above is for a list only, not discussions.

Hi limabeans! This thread is for discussion as well. I would love to know how the students got off the list, what they did to get off the list (if anything), and how they were notified. I believe this could be helpful to waitlisted students in the future. Hope I clarified a bit…

According to a thread under University of Miami in Florida, there was an applicant accepted off the wait list last week. Here we go…

UConn accepted someone off their wait list! They called tonight according to another thread.

Some schools seem to go earlier than May 1st. One interesting thing this year has been all of the articles forecasting heavier use of waitlists. This could be a new trend in admissions!

I know UCSD did. My friend got called last Friday =D

projectmom1 - I know…crazy, huh? I think this becomes part of the very long process for many applicants. Although each year is different, there definitely seems to be a trend over recent years.

mochabubble - Thanks for the info on UCSD! Congrats to your friend!

In addition…from another thread…JMU went to their wait list because someone got a phone call this morning!

I find it very interesting that they actually pick up the phone and call. I am so curious…is it the Director of Admissions or someone who works in Undergraduate Admissions? If so, how do they decide who calls? I know this is a silly thing to think about…just curious as to how this all goes down in the middle of a conversation in the middle of the Undergraduate Admissions Department…hmmmm… ;)

It is quite likely the admissions counselor who has the responsibility for your region of the country since he or she was most likely one of the primary readers of your application file and based on the process in the more selective schools, would have been the person promoting your application to the admissions committee.

Last year seemed to indicate a lot of activity beginning the first week of May. Although I was told some schools said they might start in late April. I would be curious to know if anyone received WL letters saying late April and what schools they were? Will there be movement this weekend?

Also the UC’s seem to have gone about a week earlier than last year, so I wonder if this will be a trend of deeper, and earlier use of waitlists.

The UC’s are just using the WL as a buffer against their (foolish) dreams of a bunch of OOS’ers coming. Obviously, that ain’t happening.

I sure hope West Chester University goes to their wait list…

Does anybody know if Dartmouth started to call people from the Wait list yet?
Please post accurately info only! Thanks!

FYI.
“…some students decide to delay that decision by doing something called “double depositing”. If you are thinking of doing this, read this first! Double depositing is VERY RISKY and could cost you admission to all of your top choice schools.”

Please read: [Double-Depositing: A Wise College Choice? | myUsearch blog](Double-Depositing: A Wise College Choice? | myUsearch blog)

The University of South Carolina is NOT going to their wait list. I think they received A LOT more deposits than they anticipated. Yikes!
