I got wait listed at WFU. I understand that up to 20% of the students that get wait listed eventually get offers of admission. With the regular decision admission rate of 25%, my chances of getting off the wait list don’t seem much worse…
Thoughts? I put August 1st on the post card and mailed it back…
I’m putting July 1st because my Boston College orientation is in July and I really don’t want to get oriented to a school that I won’t attend. I love Wake but I know if they called me in late July, I would already be hyped for another school.
Wishing us all luck! In the meantime get excited for your number 2.
I got waitlisted as well. I put August 1 because my second choice(wake’s my first) has orientation on August 1st. I’ve already sent it back(I got it today) and emailed my admissions officer. Really bummed, but my grades weren’t quite as high as everyone else here so I saw it coming.
Now it says in the letter that they don’t rank the waitlisted applications, and it also isn’t first come-first serve. So, how exactly do they determine who to admit?
Also, I’m assuming any merit scholarships I applied for are probably toast as well.
@splash102, Here is Wake’s admission commenthttp://fromtheforest.admissions.wfu.edu/2017/03/important-information-on-our-wait-list-process/ . This states they will take a look at their needs May 1. It also states how many applicants it has taken off the list. Good luck.
@splash102, The link I gave you above states that visiting does not improve your chances of getting accepted off the wait list. With that said, if it is not a hardship for you or your parents, how can it hurt your chances? If you do visit, I would let your Wake admissions dean know you are visiting and you should stop off at the admissions building. Good luck.
I was talking with a mom whose daughter was WL at Wake & she was offered a spot off the waitlist last week. Of course, it was the day after she deposited at another school. She turned down the spot at WF. So – they are already offering spots to people.
check this other post though (copy and pasting from another WF WL thread from this year)-- “I was talking with a mom whose daughter was WL at Wake & she was offered a spot off the waitlist last week.
