Any advice? Thanks!

@Florida27 I would have your son call the admissions office and the college that he wants to get into and tell them this is his first choice. I would also ask where he is on the wait list. if he is way down I would start looking at other schools he likes.

@Florida27 Many students with those stats were waitlisted, deferred or Bridged and remember that extracurriculars are not weighed that heavily. You can call and ask questions to find out what was lacking and there is also a appeal process. Ask and find out if its worth the appeal based on where he is on the waitlist. Clemson has gotten significantly more competitive over the past five years and this year also received thousands more applicants than last year. His stats are certainly great, but also pretty average for most kids applying this year. All the best!

Thanks so much! He is comprising a letter to send stating Clemson engineering is his first choice. I called the director of engineering recruiter and he too is aware of my sons great interest - he seemed hesitant to get in the way of the admissions wait list decision. - I heard they do not rank wait list - not really sure how their wait list works

My daughter has the same gpa, act and SAT scores as your son and she was waitlisted also. We are planning on visiting Tuesday ( we have not seen the university yet). Any advice??

@Florida27 good luck with the waitlist. I will say that it seems from all the posts here that most kids accepted have one of at least 4.0, 1300 SAT, or 30 ACT. Many have 2, or all 3 of the 3.

I would have had your son call the engineering director. It’ll be taken very differently and even if you aren’t, it could’ve come off as “just another interfering parent.” Having him call would’ve shown independence and maturity.

Appeal and change majors. Engineering is TOUGH to get 1st year!

My S was waitlisted with a 3.9, 1340, and 8 AP’s. Kind of shocked.

Anyone heard anything?

A friend of my daughters received word yesterday that he was accepted off the waitlist

My son cleared the waitlist as well. We are so excited! Best of luck to everyone.

My daughter was accepted off the waitlist today.

Clemson has one of the top rates for accepting their waitlist. Close to 100 percent.
