waitlisted at newhouse... 31 ACT, 1960 SAT.. 3.8 GPA. kinda disappointed, but im not really sure if i want to major in something so specific..but i really like the school :/

^NLMP13, believe me, she's not alone....being waitlisted here was the last thing that i excepted. i guess i was slightly underqualified for management with my lower math grades throughout high school and overqualified for arts and sciences....it hurts a lot, but im trying to put things in perspective

do you think theyd humor me if i called asking what the weakness in my application was? my college advisor said id probably get some generic answer like the pool was too big and they had to turn down qualified students blah blah blah, but he said its worth a try. i turned down the waitlist offer anyway, so i dont mind putting a little pressure on until i find out what im looking for...its just so confusing and frusterating.

and thanks, aint no cover :)

quick question..i haven't gotten my letter, only an email..and am wondering if it says you are accepted to your second choice college.. i applied to newhouse for my first choice and arts and sciences for my second.

thanks!

For those of you waitlisted/rejected at Newhouse:::

Preliminary Stats: Over 4000 applied
Accepted: Depending on what yield # you want to use: approx 800 to fill a freshman class of 345
Class Rank: Top 5-10%

jessielou: If you were accepted to A & S second choice, it would have said it in your original e-mail (in the letter)

Where do the Undergraduate Dual Enrollment Programs from A&S fit in with these figures? My D applied as an "Arts and Sciences / Public Communications" major and was accepted. She would be expected to complete an A&S major as well as a Newhouse field of study, earning a
bachelors degree jointly awarded by both colleges.

Are students who apply to Newhouse through this option held to the same entrance requirements as those who apply to only Newhouse? Is there any difference in difficulty to gaining admission to Newhouse (easier or harder) going this route?

ACT: 31
SAT: 1340/2130
GPA: 3.3/3.9
Good ec's, eic of school newspaper, etc.

I'm not really angry I was waitlisted, but I was a little surprised. I knew getting into Newhouse would be tough, but I thought I would definitely get into my second choice college. Several people from my school (that I feel are less qualified) got in, including two to Newhouse. Oh, well.

thanks rodney
