Hey, so I checked my E-mail to find out a decision had been made, and I've been wait-listed. It isn't as bad as a rejection, but then again it isn't an acceptance either. I know it's not the best decision for most of us out there, but we'll just have to see how everything goes.

So now I've been wait-listed for more than one college, which makes things a lot harder. Anyways, my main question regards past statistics of acceptances from the wait-list for SU. Does anyone have any general idea/link to their acceptances off of the wait-list from previous years?

I haven't called to ask about whether or not they rank their wait-list, etc, but if anybody has any information on this it would be appreciated, and post your stats if you don't mind, just a quick idea on the GPA/SAT scores, or anything you want to provide.

Yeah, was hoping to edit it in after I got the GPA thing worked out like I explained in the other thread lol, but it doesn't let me edit for some reason :(. Guess I'll post them.

92-94% GPA still depending on how my school/counselor fixes it, and 1700's- SAT's. Any idea if time will play a factor here, as in an application being handed in during November as opposed to December?

I was also wait-listed, so I would really like to hear about any statistics of students getting off of the wait-list. (Now I'm kicking myself for not applying early.)

I applied to Newhouse, and I gather that that didn't help my chances, but here are my stats...
ACT- 24
GPA- Early College: 3.6, High School: 3.8

nothing can describe my anger right now. i applied first choice to management and was sure i had a very good chance for that, but if not, i assumed i was basically guaranteed CAS. but NO, waitlisted there. clearly, i declined that offer the second i got over the shock.

3.3 uw GPA, all honors/ap except for math
30 ACT (34 on the english, 33 on reading, 12 on writing...you would have though i could have at least gotten in second choice to CAS as an english major...?)

and NO lack of demonstrated interest...i did a tour, met with the dean of management, an interview too.

I was so sure I would get accepted...Syracuse really isn't a hard school to get into...i guess they pulled a Binghamton and decided to gte crazy selective this year.

It's nice to know other people feel my anger.
ACT 26
GPA 3.9 uw
SAT 1810
All AP/Honors
More that enough EC's and taking college classes in the evenings.

I applied to Newhouse and was waitlisted at CAS. I really wonder how there selection process works. Everyone who got e-mail today was waitlisted. They must have had more than expected applicants.

How do you get into Carnegie Mellon and waitlisted at SU. SU is a dreary, dank place anyway. Seriously, did you all visit. Not nice at all. Didn't want D there anyway, but H is a serious SU sports fan. Even when they have terrible seasons like now. I think they need to stop worrying about their rates because they are not good at it. The 3 they accepted from Ds high school, worse stats than her, will not be attending. Always knew they wouldn't attend, but applied anyway.

Want to follow-up with this for all you that really want SU. My very good friends daughter is a graduate of SU. Not a good student at all. C average. Went to community college freshmen year, then transferred in. No problem. It made me less inclined to want my D to apply as stated above. Why make your freshmen jump through hoops when you accept "inferior" transfer. They all end up graduating as SU grads. If you don't make waitlist, just transfer in.

Binghamton accepted ea
Stonybrook accepted ea
northeastern accepted rd
syracuse accepted rd
udel - rejected? (and of course that was my first choice)
can anyone make sense of that?

redribbon08: try to get yourself an interview somewhere b/t now and the date on the waitlist letter.....if your GPA is unweighted, you have a good chance (if it's weighted, you are a little under Newhouse stats.....)

PM me if you have any specific Newhouse questions...my d was accepted RD and interviewed in NY @ Lubin House......

all AP classes..most rigorous workload
34 ACT
2100 SAT
3.5 GPA (unweighted)
excellent art portfolio if i do say so myself
a ton of really impressive extracurriculars- highlighting my interest in architecture
and a great letter of rec. from an architect i interned with

already accepted to nyu, carnegie mellon, northeastern, and rpi

^ hey, youre lucky, at least the probably though you were overqualified...and you have great schools to boost, although im sure it's still shocking. at this point i have 2 schools to wait on but based on the waitlists/rejections ive received so far from the rest of my regular decision schools...i wont be accepted to any.

thank god for mcgill though. blows syracuse and pretty much all my other schools out of the water on reputation/academic caliber. this whole system is madness anyway, i cant wait to escape.

D was waitlisted at Newhouse. We knew Newhouse was a long shot but at least thought D would get accepted to CAS as a second choice. But nothing on that. She doesn't plan on attending but it just seems strange.
