Does anyone have information on when and how wait listed notifications are sent out?
Also, how does the wait list work? Do you have to put down $ at another college to hold a space in case you don't get selected from the Bing wait list, and then if you do, forfeit that money?

I was deferred to Reg Admin from EA. Hopefully we do not receive notification that we are waitlisted. I found out the following info - Historically, the odds for wait-listed students have been discouraging. The National Association for College Admission Counseling says only about 30 percent of students who chose to remain on a wait list eventually got accepted last year. And a recent survey of students by an economist at Mercy College, found that only 1 percent of students got accepted from the waiting list to their first-choice school.

The way a wait list works is that generally, they give you a decision by July 1st. So basically, you would have to put down a deposit at another school, but if you got accepted from the waitlisted and wanted to go there, you’d have to cancel your enrollment at the school you deposited at and redeposit at the school you had been waitlisted from. you would lose the money. However, if you express to the school that they are your first choice, and send them additional information, they are more likely to review you sooner and even possibly accept you from the waitlist before May 1st.

Thanks, @sophiesrsly. I just found out I was waitlisted, so this information is really helpful.

I called the Bing admission office. They told me that the waitlist is unranked, which means everyone, as of now, has the same chance of getting chosen off the waitlist. On 5/1, after they know how many open spots they have, they start reevaluating applications. they said to NOT send in additional recommendations. You can send in new information like awards or grades, but they don’t want recommendations. they could not tell me when they would finish notifying people about the waitlist, but I have read elsewhere that it’s by 7/1. i asked how they notify you and they said by sending an email to your BU email but that seems wrong since I think you can’t access your bu email until you’re admitted. other than that the information seemed reliable.
