Waiting: Do I Lose Out on Housing (etc.) While Waiting For Other Acceptances?

I have gotten into each of my schools so far, but USC (my dream school) is not going to notify me until March/April. My question is this: How much am I losing out on by waiting for USC's response? If i get into USC, I am 95% sure I will be attending, but I'm afraid of not getting in and then losing out on the good housing and benefits of being an early "acceptee" at my other schools.

Bottom Line: How much do you think I will lose from not sending in my deposits to a different school right away? I really don't want to be in a rinky-dink dorm with 40 to a floor, all sharing one toilet.

Is this a classic case of not being able to have your cake and eat it too?

Thanks for the input!

one quick bump.

It's generally only a problem at large, state schools. At most other schools, even those that may have a housing shortage, the "order of receipt" doesn't kick in until after May 1.

If the schools to which you were accepted (congratulations, by the way) have separate enrollment and housing deposits, they may allow you to send in the housing deposit without committing yourself to attend.

The best thing to do is to determine which is your second choice school (i.e. the one you want to go to if you don't get into USC) and call them and ask about their housing policy.
