@Jd1221 are you a URM, btw?

so does anyone think that due to the increase in applicants, they went more stats based this year? like if you had a high gpa and/or SAT/ACT with an essay that wasn’t blown off, you were in?

@UDUBHUSKIES Admissions counselor said that the increase in applicants was practically all OOS. IS applicants were close to the same as last year, so for IS there is the same amount of competitiveness as last year. Who knows though.
What are your stats?

3.8 GPA, 6 APs, 3 Dual Enrollment, 6 Honors, 1930 SAT (560 CR, 670 M, 700 W)

Dual Enrollment meaning College in the Schools.

are u In state?

no, OOS 10char

I know people who got both acceptances AND rejections yesterday. These people go to public or private schools spanning: Seattle, Shoreline, Mercer Island, Bellevue, Redmond, and Renton.

Acceptances were >= 3.7 UW GPA while rejections were in the <= 3.1 UW GPA range.

Hopefully y’all who are waiting will hear in the next few days!

@speedsolver are you serious about the rejections? In Seattle…woah. I thought they sent out only acceptances?!

(Thought the UW only sent out acceptances on saturday, are you positive?

@huskyhopeful my essays were well written, but it all really depends on who read it. I personally thought they were well written and said a lot about the person I am and want to be. As of urm, I am multiracial.

Okay, good luck to you bro!

Yeah! You too man!

are asians counted as urm?

guys, UW doesn’t look at race/ethnicity… WA State doesn’t allow for affirmative action in college admissions.

@huskyhopeful: They posted their letters online (more for an invitation of humor, I suppose…) and I saw one in person, so yes. Rejections have gone out.

As UDUBHUSKIES said, UW isn’t allowed to use race/ethnicity or affirmative action for college admissions. HOWEVER, they use their “diversity” personal statement prompt as an invitation for students to talk about their background… either culturally, or something else… so that they can bring more “diversity” to UW.

hmm…crazy, I had no idea people were getting notified of rejection already…!

3.97 GPA, 4 Honors, 6 AP, 31 ACT, 1950 SAT…still hopeful!!! Thought I would get in…

In the past years (2009-2011), it seemed like the ‘for sure’ acceptances/rejections were sent right away (based on self reported GPA/test scores/EC/perceptions-on-essay-writing). I didn’t pay as much attention to the 2012 notices though … and I’m not sure how different it is now.

@SSaaee55 Hmmm…OOS or IS? Do you live in Seattle/near UW?

@speedsolver Yea, that’s really interesting…have you gotten accepted?
