Well that is unfortunate. I decided on Trin BECAUSE I thought it would be friendlier than some of my other choices, such as Colgate and BU (and BU's size). I expected Trin to be more normal. It's funny, I always assume that everyone is fairly homogenous within a range at any given school. That said, I thought Trin students would be academically on a par with me. BTW, the pre-orientation Packet 3 came today!

Oh, don't get me wrong, I actually picked Trin over Colgate for the same reason, the people were much friendlier. What I'm really talking about is the difference between suburban and city. You said you were from a big city while Trinity's population is mostly suburban, its a different culture, you know. The homogeneity at Trin is really only skin deep. I suppose the reason some people see the school as a haven for popped collars and khakis because that is what stands out the most to people from places where people don't wear that kind of thing, like me. Anyway, breaking it down really simple here is the jist of what I was trying to say. 1) There is no shortage of friendly people at Trin but 2) There is no shortage of unfriendly people at Trin, I'd say it is about 50/50. For a comparison, I characterized Colgate at about 70/30 and my own home town at about 20/80 (very high on the friendly-o-meter).

You know what....I have no clue what I'm talking about... :) I love Trin and most everyone else does too...even the unfriendly campers.

My D got packet 3 the other day. Looks like Mon,Tues and Wednesday before check in day on 8/31.

that was what i was waiting to know.

Now we are wondering should she bring everything on wed to set up her room or maybe just the things she needs to live for three days and then we will go back up again on Thurs w/ the van and bring the rest of her stuff. This way I can see her for her official send off day and attend lunch and convocation.

Have a few questions about how to handle this. i think I will call Housing Dept and Dean of Sudents Dept.

If anyone wants to know what I learned you can post on here and I'll let you know.

sorry I forgot to enter the title to previous post PRE-ORIENTATION PROGRAMS

But I guess you knew what I was talking about.
