Sounds like exactly the kind of credible, genuine insight the process is designed to seek out. I'll lick the stamp.

^^^^ yuk!

Stick with the self-stick ones .... you never know what germs are lurking out there! ;)

Son's BGO called last night to say that offer is enroute. We're thrilled for him; it's been his dream and goal since ~ 8th grade.

Bottom line is that Admissions is progressing with their business for the entire candidate pool, not just LOAs and super-humans. Hopefully everyone waiting will hear sooner rather than later.

For calibration purposes, son's package was complete way back in Aug. Final Q (SQ) came in Oct. MOC nom (competitive) came on Dec. 17, input in CIS Dec. 18.

DoDMERB Admission Status Change Date updated on Thursday, 24 Jan 08.

Good luck to everyone.

PR Congrats to your son. I know you all were worried and anxious

paulrevere- congrats to your son!!!

Congratulations. That is wonderful news. :) Now maybe he can enjoy the rest of his senior year. :)

After reading and reading various posts, I am more confused than ever. My son has two nominations, and is waiting for a medical waiver.

His candidate information page says nothing about any "Qs". We have assumed that he is scholastically and physically qualified, but we have gotten no information about 2 Qs? Are we missing something?

We did receive a letter in Nov that stated my son was academically qualified. The letter reminded him about having the medical exam and to seek a nomination. He took the CFA at NASS, and it was put on the candidate site, so I assume everything is ok. The DODMERB site already indicated that he was qualified medically a month before receiving the letter, so the letter clearly was just a standard one since it did not jive with DODMERB. Our BGO told my son he was triple q’d in Oct and wished him good luck on the nom which he has now received. I have seen some posts where an appointment was given and that person never received an "academic" letter. Those letters seem to go out way after the fact. I have not heard of anyone receiving a letter from admissions stating their different status other than academically qualified.

Does the BGO have access to records, or does he/she say "qualified" by the information provided by the candidate?

the BGO has access to some records. he/she can tell you if the academy has q'ed you.

GoNavy2008,

Triple Q is a term meaning the candidate has been found qualified in 3 specific areas: Medically (DoDMERB), Athletically (CFA), and Scholastically (based on whole candidate score as determined by the Admissions Board).

The only Q indicated on the Candidate Information System (CIS) is the Candidate Fitness Assessment. If the candidate passed, a date will be entered next to CFA near the top of the page.

The medical Q status can be checked on the DoDMERB site. In your case, if a waiver is ultimately granted, the DoDMERB status will reflect that.

The scholastic Q is a specific designation by the Admissions Board. Usually a candidate will receive a separate letter from the Admissions Department indicating that he/she has been found "Scholastically Qualified". This means that the candidate has achieved at least the minimum whole candidate score and they can continue in the admissions process. Receiving the SQ does not mean the other qualifications have been satisfied. Apparently there are some candidates who do not receive this separate letter, but in fact are offered appointments. My son did receive a separate letter back in November.

These Q's are unrelated to a nomination, which the candidate must also obtain to continue the process.

Congrats on all accomplishments thus far; keep pushing for that waiver!!

The dates listed in the CIS are the dates that each item has been entered/received. A date next to the CFA field does not mean that the candidate passed the assessment.

gonavy2008, I did not ask the BGO how he knew I was tripled Q'd. I just assumed he had access to that type of information since he is a BGO.

GA, thanks for the clarification regarding CFA.

Since it's just the data receipt date entered in CIS, is there any documentation the candidate can view to confirm success on the CFA, or must one contact their RD for confirmation of success?

you can contact your BGO for that information. since RD's handle many more applicants than BGO's your BGO will probably have a faster response.
And like another poster said, start using your chain of command now.

For those of you with "just normally outstanding" applicants waiting for an appointment..... be patient.
My son was one of those average applicants, but had a strong interview with his MOC and won a primary nomination. His BGO had warned us that Florida was a HIGHLY competitive district with hundreds of applicants - not the most encouraging information. And yet, he got his phone call on February 1, 2005 but no one was home... so they called at 7:15am the next day!
One midshipman from our area (I believe he is class of 2010) was wait listed and got his call the DAY BEFORE I-day! He quickly changed plane reservations (he had accepted an appointment to another service academy) and flew to Annapolis.
Hold on to your dreams.... and as one parent said, pay your plan "B" school's deposit "just in case".

We have a local family with a similar appointment experience. While he was wait listed and received his appointment a few weeks prior to I Day, he had already made plans to show up on I Day and be available to report if an opening occurred

Well, at least if the appointment is made close to I-Day, there is not much to pack! And, I, guess, keep the receipts for all the "college junk" you bought for plan B!

really? i didnt know this could happen, i thought you were told by April 15th, but i guess some people decline or whatnot, and more appointments are made. I am kindof in this situation. I recieved an appointment to USMA but have a senator, a congressional and a pres. nom to USNA. I really want accept my USMA appointment but cant bring myself to do it without knowing if i got into USNA :( ...I hope I find out sooner than later, as i decided to wait it out before making a fast decision.
