Yeah, Byerly has been extremely helpful, but I didn't really need someone to rub it in (although I'm sure he didn't mean to)

I didn't get in off the waitlist (in Westchester, NY), but evidently somebody else in the county did (white female, 1320, top quartile)...not many details though

No criticism of Columbia is intended in any way.

But there is nothing evil about considering a transfer down the line. If it is a possibility in your mind, you should prepare for it.

That said, many who start college thinking they will want to transfer change their mind later and stay put.

Rejected. I'm on my ninth tissue...how ironic. Harvard Class of 2009 I will never be. I'm a disgrace to my family, my school, my Harvard sweatshirt. This is the single worst thing I have ever experienced in my entire life. It even surpasses the time I dropped a 20 pound dumbbell on my foot. The worst part is, I'll never be a part of the Harvard alumni association, never a fellow member of Byerly, the most prestigious man on earth.

lol. anyways, congrats to everyone who was accepted, a hearty slap on the back to those who weren't, and good luck to those applying next year. asterstar...out!

(That was my Ryan Seacrest imitation. I love that man. Must be why I didn't get in....I'm rambling now.)

Roar, Lion, Roar
And wake the echoes of the Hudson Valley!
Fight on to victory evermore,
While the sons of Knickerbocker rally round
Columbia! Columbia!
Shouting her name forever!
Roar, Lion, Roar
For Alma Mater on the Hudson Shore!

(Here's the polka version... very rare!

http://cumb.org/sounds/roar.mid )

Goodluck to everyone waiting, and wishing that the thing doesnt come.
its weird waiting for something and praying that it does not come ;)

Well, i feel pitty for my fellows waiting since 7 months, hope your patience pays!

I couldn't wait any longer, so I phoned them...I am an official Harvard reject for the class of 2009. Oh well, there's always the infinitesimally small chance of going to H med school.

I'm sorry if Harvard was your first choice, but just look at it: UPenn, Brown, Columbia! I'm sure you will all have an amazing four years.

thx byerly!

Hmmm... you phoned them and they told you? Maybe I'll do that.

Me too got off the waitlist :D
everyone in Lahore got the rejection letters, well as an international, we shouldnt have expected better !

btw, a freind got into Stanford yesterday, got a personalized email,
well, 3 people i know turned down stanford, 1 for harvard, 1 for MIT and 1 for OXford...and the lucky boy had enrolled in three different local universities in the last year...phew...it finally paid for him...

From where i live, well all the Harvard waitlistcumrejects like me, going to National University of Singapore. http://www.nus.edu.sg unless we intend to stay in Pakistan.

Hope we get a better opportunity for masters...

I got a message from my area representative on my answering machine yesterday. It said to call them back. I did, and now am waiting for them to call me back. I'm very anxious about what they were calling about! Does Harvard accept people off the waitlist by phone?

They would probably call to ask about your continued interest before accepting you.

So then would they accept me after I tell them I want to stay on the waitlist, or would they send an acceptance letter?

Awesome news.

The final word will be in writing at some point. It is possible that there may be further internal discussion of a range of candidates known to be still interested.

Still no word one way or the other, is that a good thing???

Will I hear either way?
