Anybody hear of anyone getting off the Harvard waitlist yet?

A friend of mine say he got in off the waitlist but i think that he is lying, he says he's not going

I asked my friend and he said there was no decision on the waitlist so far.

If you call their office, they actually will let you know what the status of the waitlist is. I was waitlisted at Harvard last year and called in the early half of May. They virtually told me the exact date they would notify waitlistees (I didn't make it in). Last year, it was about 5/20 or 5/21-ish.

What they won't tell you is size of waitlist pool (they said "several hundred" to me) and the exact number they're taking off (they told me "a handful" last year).

I would just advise that you don't bug them too much.

Anyone call ?

I did and my admissions officer told me that a lot of people are going this year so they are only accepting a "handful."

Well of course a lot of people are going, however this doesn't bode well for the projected 40-60 spots.

tropicalisland - did the officer say when we'll know by?

did u guys send in any stuff?

It may be a good idea to take the "handful" comment with a grain of salt, since phantom says that he called last year and they said the same thing, when last year they admitted a full 25 people (decidedly more than a handful). If anything, that's just a way to stop kids from getting their hopes up. Personally, I'm not phased either way.

You mean fazed?

Terribly sorry, my brain is burned out tonight. Of course I mean fazed. I'm just stressed out over the AP Chemistry exam tomorrow and wasn't thinking when I wrote that. Yeah, yeah, I know. Not exactly Harvard material, right? ;)

Don't worry about it... the Harvard Crimson makes this mistake all the time. Microsoft Word's spellchecker never picks it up.

A cross-eyed John Harvard greeted surprised tourists and giggling students who passed by the statue.

Harvard Yard Operations removed the tape and does not plan to pursue any sort of investigation as no permanent damage was done to the statue.

I think its creative but I wish students would direct their creative energies elsewhere, said Zachary Gingo, manager of administrative operations for physical resources.

The John Harvard statue is often a stop for visitors to the College, who rub its foot for good luck and snap photos of Harvards namesake.

Tourists said they were not **phased **by the prank."

No WONDER I picked up the bad habit. I read that paper in my spare time! Thanks for warning me, Byerly.
