Darling daughter (above 2200 SATs, just over 3.6 weighted GPA, top nationally known high school, "good" extracurriculars, etc) was waitlisted at Wash U.

That made us happy, as we considered it a stretch school due to her relatively weak GPA. This post is NOT to complain about WUSTL wait list policy, NOR is it to ask how to improve her chances of getting into WU off the wait list (we are looking into that). Nor is it to ask what this says about chances at an Ivy (only Ivy she has applied to is Columbia, another stretch, long story)

I am curious what, if anything, this says about her chances at the less stretch schools she has applied to - Univ of Rochester, Lehigh, Lafayette, CaseWestern and RPI(architecture) if anyone here has any idea.

My parents went to both RPI (engineering) and Case Western.
Both seem to be good matches for your daughter (she was still competitive for WashU).

I don’t know about UofR… but your daughter is defiantly extremely completive at Lehigh, Lafayette, CaseWestern and RPI… (oddly enough all schools I applied to)

I was wait listed a WashU but I have already been accepted to Lafayette with lower SAT scores than your daughter and a GPA around 3.5 uw…

I was waitlisted but accepted at Rochester.
29ACT, 3.88 unweighed (4.54 weighted)
nothing too dazzling on my application except my essays + rec’s for both schools.

she should get in to Rochester with a scholarship, I got merit aid, even though the school is competitive. good luck! I am seriously considering U Rochester!
