waitlist: "cautiously optomistic"

my regional rep told me friday that as of right now admissions is "cautiously optimistic" that they will be using the waitlist this year!!!! she said they are still waiting for some acceptances since it only has to be postmarked by may 1st (not in their office by may 1st)

praaaaaaaaay for it

That is nice :D.

congratulations

Ill be praying for you guys

must be a tough wait

good luck

yeah it sucks, but at least my backup is awesome (u of i engineering) and the guy i'd be rooming wit is one of the funniest guys alive!! so that helps the wait!!

but still...

it's ND

^ I'm in the same boat...ND waitlist or my backup is U of I engineering

nice! what type of engineering you doing? where you from? i'm debating whether or not I want to do engineering, if i got into ND and i decided i want to do engineering i will definitely be going to u of i not ND (they have a much better program, in my opinion, even if you take out the money aspect!)

if i got into ND and i decided i wanted to go into business (or anything else for that matter) i would go to ND...

basically if i got into ND i would make myself not want to do engineering because i love ND so much lol

ND engineers still do well for themselves despite being poorly ranked (Still top 50!). Of course, there's always grad school to consider too. ND students are more than capable of getting into top graduate programs for engineering.

jvon2432, I'm from the Chicago suburbs and I am also not sure if engineering is for me. I think I might just study chemistry and then see what happens from there (I'm thinking I want to take the medical route).

so do you guys have any idea when we will be finding out??

they should know how many will get off next week, and they will get back to us most likely end of may

I sent an e-mail to Dr. Saracino yesterday after reading your posts, jvon2432.

The reply says that the committee will meet next week to review the waitlist applicants. It also says that students will be immediately contacted when the committee makes a decision.

I am really hoping it will be within two weeks...

yeah that's what he said to me; anybody got a # on how many? i asked saracino and my regional rep and they both just told me that it would "definitely be used" but i got no specific numbers... since they did accept a lot less this year, i'm hoping they'll take maybe 25-50 off the list? I mean I really have no idea, anybody know how many they've taken off the list in the recent past? (I know last year was 0...)

with only 500 people on the list we should all have a good shot!

25 ~ 50?

I was hoping around 100... so everyone has a better chance :D.

Hello to all! My daughter is also waitlisted at ND and we are anxiously waiting!
I spoke with her high school counselor last week and she indicated that she has spoken with the regional representative for our area. This representative indicated that "they expect to take a good number from the wait list." Obviously, what a good number is would be extremely subjective but it is positive news! Also, does anyone know if we are contacted by phone or letter? Are we given a day or so for a final answer? Finally, how do we now know the wait list is only 500?

See acccccccccccccccccceptted thread. Someone there said they expect to take about 100-130 off of the waitlist....

anybody new received that magical phone call today?!
