Waitlist

It's about that time for waitlist things to start trickling out. Does anyone know if ND will even be going to their waitlist this year?

My regional rep said he might know something at the end of this coming week, I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

does anyone know anything yet?

On Thursday, the regional rep from ND will be coming to the Chicago area to discuss admission to the university. I have a daughter there now,(waitlisted a year ago....I know how all of you feel!) and a son who will be applying in a couple of years. If I end up going, I will ask her specifically if they will be going to the waitlist. I will then post when I get back what her response was. My hunch is that she will be non-commital but we will see!

oh my gosh I am so nervous! I want to go there so bad!!!

My D emailed her regional rep today and he said they would be taking a "limited number" from the wait list. I have no idea what a limited # is, but at least some will still get the opportunity. I hope you all and my D make it off the waitlist and become great friends from this experience.

eek, "limited number" makes me terribly nervous! but I guess any number could be limited.. right? waiting, is your regional rep bob mundy by any chance?

Keddy, I think the regional reps try to stay a little detached at this stage. No our regional rep is not Bob Mundy. Our regional rep is very polite but seems to give just the information and my D is not great about being able to extract more. Limited could mean anything. If I remember right from last years post the original waitlist number was from 30-50 that was reported and when it was completed it was over 150. Anything is still possible.

Thanks for the encouragement, I've got my fingers crossed for all of us.

me too. I hope that they take heartfelt letters into account.
ahhh! I'm prolly going to call my regional rep tomorrow.

by the way, where will you guys go if you dont get off of the waitlist??
I'm going to go to miami of ohio.

Let us know how it goes michigankid, maybe he'll give you some good news!

I'm going to college of the holy cross if i dont get into nd

Ohio State D says she will have her transfer application before she sets foot the campus though. Miami of Ohio is a great school. I know of 2 people this year that turned down ND for Miami of Ohio. Cost was the deal breaker at ND for them. Hope your Irish come August!!

wow miami over nd. thats pretty big. of course its pretty big to some people here that I turned down umich instate for miami out of state.

Holy Cross is the top rated Catholic LAC on USNWR so not a bad second choice.

Atleast they're taking people off the waitlist. I'm getting really anxious, even more so then when I was waiting for my RD decision. It is just downright annoying to not be certain where you're going. If the waitlist doesn't work out, I'm going to Creighton University.

okay so I talked with my reigional rep. today and all she would say is that the waitlist would be used, she wouldnt clarify the amount. also, decisions are not going to be sent out until mid to late may.

mid to late may!? ugh i was sort of expecting (hoping) around the end of this week. ahhhh the waiting

For those that are taken off the waitlist, most will receive a phone call, followed by a DHL package being overnighted. One of the reasons that this process is so drawn out is because they still give the waitlist admitted time to make their decision. In my daughter's case, she was given 8 days to get back to them. For you waitlisted applicants, that is one reason that it is so important to let ND know that you will attend if taken off that list. Admissions does not want to bother with those that won't come. At this point, they want to be done. Best of luck to all! Start posting those decisions when they come!

wow this is stressful...
