Absolutely not.

I would say not. But whatever happends behind closed doors stays there :D

cato91 - do u have some source/confirmation?

in my letter of interest that im about to send, i am definitely stressing the fact that i do not need any financial aid. it cant hurt my chances

I hope it isn’t, because I turned down a near full-scholarship from Harvard for a near-full scholarship from MIT instead, and I’d like to see the funds they offered me go to someone else on the wait-list, otherwise I’d feel like a complete tool for not withdrawing my application once I got into MIT for EA.

Harvard is not need-aware in the sense asked about in this thread in any aspect of its admission process. It can afford to admit the students it desires.

the two people I know who have been accepted off waitlist in recent year were wealthy legacies.

cool. 2 people.
