Waitlist Position for Arts Class?

I've been trying to get into another section of for an Intro to Drawing Class and it says that I've been waitlisted at #6.
What's the likelihood for getting off the waitlist?
Is there anything else that I can do to get off the waitlist other than just wait?

Email the professor to indicate your interest, and arrive at class on the first day regardless of whether you’ve been offered a place. If an enrolled student doesn’t show up, you will then be able to get in. Even if everybody’s there, sometimes the professor will admit you, even above people ahead of you on the waitlist, if you seem sufficiently eager and motivated. However, spots in studio arts classes are limited by the size of the equipped classrooms–it’s not like just letting somebody extra into a lecture course.

To gauge your chances of getting into this or any class, look at the total number of spots compared to the number on the waitlist. If you’re 6th, and the class accommodates 200 people, you can pretty much count on getting in; if the class only accommodates 10, then you probably won’t make it.

My son is in the same position --he’s trying to get into the Drawing I since it’s the foundation course for all further studio arts (he has it as a night class right now). Is there some form to print, or something he needs to take with him to be signed by the prof.?

Speaking from my own experience, I emailed, faxed, and nearly called the professor of a class I couldn’t enroll into because of a restriction.
Additionally, I contacted the registrar.
The professor was willing to accommodate me into his class.
You’ll need a course action form signed by the professor, unless the registrar says otherwise.
