When do wait list decisions supposed to come out the most? And do you get a notification even if you don’t get in?

I heard they will notify wait list applicants even if they are not admitted at last.
Has anyone heard from them?
Somebody from my high school got off the waitlist on June 2nd, but she took a deferred admission to join the class of 2020 and take a gap year in the meantime.
