What are the chances of getting out a waitlist? I’m also open to going after a gap year, so does anyone know the statistics for that? And my third question: when do we find out?
Any answers are appreciated,
Thank you!

Waitlisted or deferred?
There is no reliable statistics on students being taken off wait list at UChicago. The school Admission Office has never released the past wait list statistics. So no one can answer your questions 1 and 2 with confidence.
As for question 3, according to this blog just released by the Admission Office the decision will come out early summer.

I would advise you to file the wait list prospect away in the back of your mind. The chance is likely pretty low because this is the year Dean Boyer had indicated that they would cut back the size of entering class. If they call you in June or July, great. Otherwise, move on and trust yourself that you would do well no matter where you land. Good luck.
