I just had my Tele-BEARS Phase II Appointment this morning, and I found out that I am No. 104 on the waitlist for Chem 3A. At this moment, the class limit is 480. So do I have a chance to get in? By the way, I am enrolled in Chem 3AL.

Thanks very much.

I have no experience with getting into science classes, but I've heard that all that matters is that you secure a spot in lab. As long as you have that, then lecture is pretty much guaranteed. I don't know for sure though, so can anyone verify?

yes, my SLC chem group leader told me the same exact thing, sign up for a lab first...lectures are guaranteed if you get into lab....it may simply mean you either stand or have to sit on the stairs (if the room's too full)

why is it that some labs have waitlists and telebears doesn’t let me sign up for a waitlisted section? how were some people able to waitlist?

i’m talking about chem 3al btw.

i think the waitlists are full for the lecture. i think there’s a limit of 100 that can be waitlisted for a lecture. and there’s only 1 waitlist for each time slot for lab (i.e. for monday 9-1, there is one waitlist to sign up on telebears even though there are 3 sections at that time).
but honestly…your chances of getting in by waitlisting now are slim to none. probably half of the people on the waitlist right now wont get in, let alone others…
oh the joys of budget crisis

funny you should say that. yesterday i got into a lab section that didn’t waitlist. somebody dropped out, so even though i was waitlisted like 26th for this other lab section, i just switched into that open spot.

i’m not even signed up for lecture, cuz of the 17 unit limit. lecture is independent of the lab… it will most likely be open until adjustment period, since not many can waitlist for a lab, so why would they enroll in lecture?

but i know i got lucky though.
