Again, sorry for spamming, but how does priority work in waitlists? For example, I'm 5th in a full CS 61A section - if other EECS majors decide they want to take the class, will I be bumped back? Or is it on a first come basis, and will they be after me?

And some advice...I'm signed up for a full 3:30-5 section, but would it be better to go for a 20/34, 6:30-8 section instead? I would be 9th or so in that waitlist though, so what are the chances of 14 more EECS majors signing up (high I'm guessing?). My overall position would jump from 76/575 in a full lecture to ~53/168 w/ 33 empty spots in the lecture.

There are two types of wait lists: Manual and Auto. Auto is done by your number order. However, manual is where the professor decides which students to take off the wait list. For CS61A, EECS students do get first preference and priority.

I would just stick to the 3:30-5:00 section because to be honest, if many EECS majors sign up for the class, which they most likely will, then chances are that you won’t get into the class anyways. I don’t want to sound negative but that’s just how the system works. Always have a backup plan.

It was the last 6:30-8:00 section, so there were open seats but I was waitlisted when I signed up. I think I was around 5th on the list, and it looks like they let in around 5 people.

By the way, does anybody know what the deal with the second lecture is? I hear its webcast only.
