waitlist questions????

I was wait-listed at UDEL and I naturally accepted a spot. I sent out my most recent grades and a letter saying why I belong at Delaware to boost my application. But on the online chat thing with an admissions rep. they always say that you wont get a decision until after May 1st, which by that time I will have already committed to another school because of the May deadline. Does this mean I cant go to UDEL either way?

If you get in to Udel after May 1st, you can withdraw from the school that you committed to…You may lose your deposit…

Yes, as socaldad said, you can “save” yourself a spot at another school just in case. It would be a risk but at least you’ll have something. Look back to threads from this time last year. If I remember correctly “some” were notified before that May 1st date. Of course the risk is always there you won’t get your deposit back at the other school. Good Luck to you, I hope you get in! :)

In past years (no guarantee this year) UD has begun to take students in off the wait list in late March and thru April but the majority were accepted after May 1, so you can’t count on getting in before May 1. Unless there is some good reason (i.e. housing advantages, etc.) you can always wait as long as possible before sending in a deposit to another school (as long as it is in before May 1-unless the school has a different deadline). The other college should tell you if the deposit is refundable or not (probably at most schools it is not). Hopefully you accepted a place on the wait list right after it was offered to you as UD does not rank it’s wait list (but it is probably broken down by major applied to). For some highly competitive majors the odds of being accepted off the wait list are less than that for other less competitive majors or university studies. I wish you the best of luck. It does sound like from previous posts you have made on other threads that UD is really the school you want to attend. I really do hope it works out for you.

Does anyone know of anyone that has been admitted from the waiting list yet?

^Bump.

Just wondering if anyone has come off the waitlist yet . . ?
