Hello,
Its May 1st and by now NYU will probably know their yield for this year. Eventhough we will probably get our waitlist decisions on the 10th (like last year) , i just wanted to make this thread so that we can post our decisions when we get them.

If anyone of you has any info regarding NYU's yield rate this year, and whether they have had a yield of 40% or less, please post that info on this thread. Also if you know anyone who has gotten off or knows anyone who has gotten off the waitlist last year, plz dont be shy to tell us about that person.
Finally good luck to everyone who's waiting :)

thanks so much!!! I am so nervous, especially since you said there's a possibility that we may found out as soon as the 10th!!!! Anyway, I was waitlisted from Tisch and am very very anxious. Do you happen to know how many people NYU (as a whole) waitlisted?

its actually 1800 something. And if anyone gets any info regarding how many ppl are gonna be taken off the waitlist (like an estimation ,not a specific number) or has any new info regarding admissions this year, plz post it here so that all us waitlisters can have a little more info .

No pattern except that it seems the max that'll be getting off is definitely less than 10%. I hate to be a dick, but you guys asked for honesty: i saw in another thread that the yield last year for NYU was surprisingly high, so they offered less acceptances this year to have a smaller class. This will hurt your chance a little bit. Nonetheless, good luck to everyone and can't wait to hear the good news. go SENIORS '08!

Eh, I guess it's Eugene Lang for me then. Well if you are offered a spot on wait list and gets accepted, that's like bigger than getting accepted right away lol. 5% of applicants get the offer, and less than 10% (and probably less than 5%) gets a spot. Well isn't this what the "college applicantion process" all about? Heh.

The only correlation that i can see is the RISE IN YIELD RATES. I heard that for that class of 2010 the yield rate was like in the late 20's (from a previous mid 20 rate) and they took 84 ppl off and for the class of 2011 it was like 36 or 38 and hence they only took 12 pp off. This year the yield is predicted to be 40 (which is like a 2-3 percent rise) so hopefully theyll take more than 12 ppl off but even if they take like 80 or more, its still like 10% (but this is ignoring the number of ppl WHO STAYED ON THE LIST, we are assuming every1 who was offered a place on the waitlist stayed)

Lets see what happens , though id love to go to NYU more than anything!

i'm bumping this thread because i'm just so anxious! i REALLY hope they make decisions asap, or at least just send us an email acknowledging our anxiety
