did you just recently pay your deposit? it takes a couple of days for it to go through and then you’ll be able to register for orientation once the payment is processed.
as for the days, orientation has specific days that you can register for and all of them are online. there are a limited amount of spots and when i registered for mine, which is june 17th to the 18th, there were around 60 spots taken out of 300+ spots and it seemed like the last orientation you can register for before summer classes. i’m not sure if they’ll be adding more orientation dates.
If you have paid your enrollment deposit of $200, you should be able to register for orientation within a few days. If you can’t, email them at fye@ucf.edu or call them.
you get the email after you pay your enrollment deposit and register for orientation. i’ve taken the algebra portion so far and passed (now for trig & calc, neither of which i’ve taken oh boy lol)
about the math placement exam, so we can take it any time before orientation right? how was it for you and are there any practice tests or should we just review things before taking them?
yes you should take it at least a week before orientation. you first take a practice test that you have to get a 30% (i think) before you can take the actual test. then, based on how you do on that practice test it generates a Study Plan and you can do however much practice your heart desires before you move on to the actual algebra test. if you get at least a 70% (with one chance) on the actual test you have the opportunity to move on to the trig section (that has a practice test), and then same for calc. i didn’t think the algebra was that hard, and i brushed up the gaps from the few years since i’ve taken math and i was fine.
you’ll be fine, don’t stress it too much!! you got this
oh also the practice test is super long its like 100 questions but the actual test was 25 questions. some of them you’ll breeze through and the others will take some thought. i haven’t taken trig or calc portions yet (or chem) but i hope to take them this week if i can.
Math test – keep in mind that this math test is only for your benefit – to allow your academic advisor to place you in the correct math courses, instead of being in completely over your head.
yea, they were pretty low tho
Sat: 1060
Act: 20
The majority of Ap’s since freshmen year
I think around 12 dual enrollment credits
100 community service hours
I asked for an expedited admission Friday, checked just now and I have been offered spring 2021 even though I applied for summer 2020, better than nothing. I updated my transcripts before I asked for the expedited admissions so all my information even new can be considered. Just ask for one and say your parents urged you to ask for future planning.
i haven’t applied for housing yet but do you or any others think it is worth it? i am not sure if it is since we are not entirely sure if campus will reopen in fall (also, people have been predicting that the second wave of the virus will hit during fall/winter since it will be flu season). i am just asking because i dont want to pay or apply for housing if i won’t have the chance to live there due to what has been going on.
and if i do apply for housing? there is a waitlist now??
Yes, I applied for housing about 3 days after I got in and I was able to choose my housing. Even though the campus is closed now I emailed them asking if we would be able to move in for fall and they told me that their plan was to have the campus open again so we can move into our dorms and go to classes in person so I applied just in case they would reopen I would be able to live on campus.
I would definitely advise anyone interested in living ON campus to apply for housing, for several reasons.
First, the housing deposit is only $250 and it’s fully refundable. Just so you know, UCF has been awesome with refunds…unlike some universities. At some schools, students are suing the school for refunds. UCF did refunds without being asked…because it was the right thing to do.
Second, the earlier you are approved for housing, the more choice you have in room selection. In addition, if you get approved and a prospective roommate delays until the last minute, you can “pull in” that roommate to your room. (That works the same the other way, too. If you have prospective roommates who are already approved, they can pull YOU in.)
Also on housing refunds, keep something in mind with off-campus.
You are not renting an apartment for a school term. You are leasing an apartment for a period of time. So if you lease an off-campus apartment and school doesn’t open…you have a place to live. They are not going to let you out of the lease, and they are not going to refund.
I checked the housing portal because I haven’t applied for housing yet and it says that the applications for Fall 2020 and Spring 2020 are closed due to capacity. So now there is a waitlist for housing
Yeah housing is on a first come first serve basis so it would be best to apply as soon as you get in but I guess now that theres a waitlist you would just have to wait ?
