Waitlist UCF 2020

I emailed UCF the other day to see if they received my Dual Enrollment transcripts from Valencia, and they said “If you would like to receive an expedited decision you can do so by emailing admission@ucf.edu and requesting a final decision.” I was afraid to do this because I didn’t want to seem impatient, but for those of you who need to commit to other schools by May 1st, I would suggest doing this.

My biggest fear with all of this is that I’ll get accepted and not even be able to attend because I won’t get housing!

This!! I’m just going to ask for an expedited decision, at this point anything is better than nothing.

That part may be manageable, especially if you know someone who is already accepted and has housing.

People with confirmed housing can “pull in” other students who just recently got accepted. They simply notify Housing that “I want kaypatts as a roommate,” and you go in under their earlier approval.

at this point, everyone is still on the waitlist and we’ve been waiting forever… i will check later if anything changes but @kaypatts did say that some people received their decisions a few days after so we should look into that too.

also, what is an expedited decision? should we all request for that?? i’ve never heard of that to be honest…

Hey guys, I was looking through past threads and found a common data set of the 2019 class UCF had posted to their website. I don’t know if anyone wants to look at it but the numbers do seem to give some hope out there for us waiting right now!

It’s gonna be real embarrassing when I have to return all my UCF clothes if I don’t get in ?

yeah! i saw this earlier today and it’s reassuring… i am wondering if it’s competitive to get into ucf this year?? whatever it may be, i hope we can all get in due to evidence in these data sets

I checked and I also am still on the waitlist. And yeah I would like to know more about the expedited decision?

An expedited decision is when you need to know sooner than the last date that they give you, and sometimes it means they will rush over your application. In some cases, this works out in the best way possible and they decide to offer you enrollment. The worrywart in me would be too afraid to submit one because I wouldn’t want to upset anyone or rush the process. Although… this is a very… very… extensive process… ?. I definitely would recommend it if you have another school you plan on committing to.

I’d like to mention that even though I worry about it, I will be requesting an expedited decision if I don’t get a decision by April 30th.

oh okay… so in that case, when should i email them for an expedited decision? i also don’t want to sound like i’m rushing them but i do have to choose what school i am committed to by may 1st.

i will probably wait it out for a few days and then request for an expedited decision because i’m sure their email is getting a lot of complaints

hahah i feel you. im already decked out in merch

One suggestion on notifications:

Based on what my daughter has experienced, BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR EMAIL.

We have been notified first by email on almost every decision: acceptance, housing, medical, orientation, etc. We didn’t see changes in MyUCF until days afterward in many cases.

I really feel like in this current situation right now, most of their kids who have been offered admission will back out because of money problems. But we can only hope at this moment man :frowning:

Yeah I’m afraid with the expedited decision that they would be more likely to just flat out give a rejection. This is why I’m gonna wait till the end of this month and then see. I told my parents that if I don’t get in by May 1st I would like to put a deposit for my second choice school that day but still wait and see if ucf accepts me that month. That way I have a secure spot at another school just in case, but if I get into ucf I can go there and save thousands of dollars because it’s more affordable than my other choice.

I don’t know about MOST, but I think a LOT of students and families are going to have to rethink things.

If the family’s main earner has been laid off for a while, or lost their job, because of Covid-19, that family is going to be forced to make financial adjustments. If you consider nothing but dorm alone, staying home and commuting to college locally will save $5,000-$6,000 for a typical UCF acceptee. That’s not pocket change, and would be a huge help to the family.

You can look at 2019 UCF waitlist stats, but keep in mind that 2020 is NOT 2019. This is a VERY different economic environment for many, many families.

Where are the 2019 waitlist stats in that document? I’m having trouble finding it haha

There is a FB event on Friday at 3 for housing. Not being able to get into housing is a real concern, it might be worth asking if housing is still available. Your application has to be confirmed to be pulled in by someone else.

the link that someone sent from above is the 2019 CDS, look at the titles for each section (this CDS talks about how many freshmen are admitted and then underneath, it will have “freshmen waitlist” or something similar and then those are the stats)

totally agree! whatever college it may be, my dad is the only one who works and has been laid off so finances will be difficult.

also, yes! i dont want to heavily rely on the 2019 stats because that was 2019… but i think most of us have it in the back of our minds for reassurance.
