Waitlist UCF 2021

I did as you advised. Well, I told my son to. He wrote a very personal email to the admission’s person assigned to his HS. She wrote back that they go down the waitlist as space becomes available and to continue checking. Definitely hard when you don’t know what to expect.

I was curious, so if you are on the wait list a long time they as you to send updated transcripts? Seems like it would be stressful to know your grades are still being looked at for admission almost your whole senior year. I know you can’t significantly drop grades after admission, but I feel like one would breathe at least a little easier.

Hi! I’ve been on the waitlist for a while now and really want to go to this school.
SAT: 1090
W GPA: 3.9
Graduating with 48 college credits
400+ volunteering hours
Has anyone heard back? Or requested a final decision?
I am just a little hesitant that I will just get rejected if i ask.
thoughts anyone?

hi! i’m in the same position you’re in. Here’s my stats: I got the same SAT scores you did and 5.0 GPA. I’m in the AICE program and Arts at my school. I have leadership positions, work experience, and active in my community. I will be graduating with my aice diploma and 150+ community service hours. I applied in October and didn’t hear a thing until last month to be placed on the waitlist.

The emails and phone calls were not helpful so I had a private zoom with the admissions team. All they really told me was I just have to wait it out until May 31st. The reason they believe I was placed on the waitlist was due to our low SAT scores.

I hope this helps!! I’m sorry and best of luck

Hi! have you thought about an expedited decison

To @ally4047 and @ar03110,

I have no idea whether there is any correlation between what’s happening this year and what happened last year, but in 2020 my daughter got Summer admission with almost identical SATs. She applied in late September 2019, and was offered Summer admission in January 2020.

UCF is obviously doing things differently this year, and I do think last year was a very unusual year – especially after the pandemic hit in March. But based on our results, I think you guys have a good chance of acceptance.

On “expedited decisions,” has anybody heard of anybody getting one? All I’ve heard is “No, you have to wait.”

Last year some were getting yes and some were getting no, but people were getting answers when they asked for “expedited decisions.”

ive heard of two people asking and getting in

did your son ever hear back?

did you ever hear back?

They said it was very competitive and they could not offer admission at this time. They said he can appeal, he can apply for a different semester, or he can go get a two year degree and then transfer in. If he wants to apply for a different semester he has to reactivate his application. I am not sure what he should do.
The admissions person suggested the appeal, but I am not sure that is a good idea…perhaps the Spring term? They said that the Spring term is pretty competitive so they do not suggest it, but I feel like perhaps an appeal would be a waste of time.

you expedited your decision and they said that? What are his stats? If this is his top school you could appeal then see what they say then reapply for summer, I thought they consider you for all semesters when ur on the waitlist already??

No, we did not ask for expedited. He did email the admissions counselor twice in about a span of two months just to show his interest and that he was working on it. One person talked to my husband on the phone during our waitlist time and she said she didn’t see why our son would not get accepted and then a week later he got the no. We never asked for an expedited answer so I’m not sure if they just started going down the list.
I am not sure how much the appeal would do for him since there is not much he can do right now.
I did ask the lady if he can appeal and then try again for next semester and she said she thought he would not be able to do that because that may be a definite no.

Did he have any college credits? He could take 4 classes after high school and try to get in as a transfer. I would try to reapply for spring or appeal. If you try everything then you know to try transfering next.

I’m not sure UCF accepts transfers for Spring semester. They do Spring admissions, but I believe my daughter’s bf was told he would have to transfer in the Fall. Not sure if that is general policy, or if it’s because they needed his updated transcripts.

I would check with Undergraduate Admissions before I adopt that as a strategy.

I applied in January, was waitlisted in February, and accepted mid March.
My stats are
SAT: 1180
UCF gpa is around 3.4
I hope that helps anyone who is trying to compare scores.

How did you get in a private zoom call with the admissons team?

My daughter has been in the waitlist for admission as a freshman at UCF since October :woman_facepalming:t2: Wondering if anyone else is going through this , or if you have been admitted or still on waitlist . Thank you!!

Welcome to cc-UCF.

Yes, lots of families are going through it. May 1 is here, so some results should start coming in pretty soon.

However, keep in mind that it is still Finals week at UCF, so some staff might be occupied with that. Finals end Wednesday and I think grades are due on Friday, so it’s a busy time.

you can email admissions and ask for one or go to their website
