I think the option would be to go to a state college, like Valencia for example, and then try to transfer for Fall 2023. I think UCF only accepts transfers in the Fall semester.
But no, being declined (IF that happens) does not permanently rule out future acceptance.
UCF fixed the issue and I am now officially a Knight and in for the Summer Term!!! I am sooo excited and I just wanted to tell all of you all thank you itâs been a pleasure to discuss with you all over this discouraging time. I canât wait to start and GO KNIGHTS!!
Hello thank you for all the good information. This is the response we got after being on the waitlist since 03/2021:
At this time the university has met its enrollment goal for summer 2021, therefore enrollment is closed for this term. If you wish to be considered for a future term within the next year, complete the reactivation form. After one year you will be required to submit a new application to UCF.
We completed the Reactivation application and selected fall 2021. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Hi everyone, my daughter was waitlisted since Feb 2021. Friday she received news that they were to full capacity for fall 2021 with a link for her to reactivate her application to Spring 21. We are so confused. Is this a rejection? Deferral?? She clicked the link and is hoping to get in for spring.
In the meantime, she hopes to take one semester at Valencia. My question is, would she then have to reapply as a transfer student? She doesnât want to get her AA at Valencia. She is hoping for just one semester and hopes to be a Knight for Spring. UCF is her dream school. Her sister already attends and she really hopes to join her. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Be careful about going to other schools and going in as a transfer- it would kill any scholarship she would qualify for. If she was a top 10% I would call admissions and find out the earliest she could reapply and qualify for top 10 Knights. It may not be until next Fall, but if she could get a scholarship, it might be worth it.
The thing is she did very well and graduated top 10%, she had AP credits as well as DE credits, however her SAT/ACT scores werenât the best. I do not think UCF would have offered her a merit scholarship, and we do not qualify for financial aide. So instead of wasting a year, we thought it would be beneficial if she attends Valencia for one semester and God-willing, she will be accepted for Spring of 2022. She already clicked on link to reactivate her application for Spring, but I guess my question is, if she does in fact do one semester at Valencia, should she reapply as a transfer student then? So many questions, and not sure who we could speak to. Any help is so greatly appreciated.
I would call Undergraduate Admissions directly. They are very helpful.
And when you do, I would also mention the weak SAT/ACT scores, but that she had AP and DE, and graduated top 10%. Itâs quite possible that all they looked at was the SAT/ACT and did not take a detailed look at the full picture.
You are correct. Thank you so much for your advice. You might be right. When she was waitlisted and anxiously awaiting a response, she reached out to them and expressed that this was her dream school. We hoped since they waited till last Friday, that she would get better news. Seems we have more questions now than answers. I will tell her to call admissions and hopefully we get a a better idea of how she should proceed. Thank you so much for your quick responses. They are so greatly appreciated.
Please call admissions- the Top 10 Knight is supposed to be guaranteed as long as you hit the deadline. She also could retake the SAT/ACT. If she could hit 1300 or 27, she might get scholarship. Right now everything is still on the table. Last year was a mess, ask them what her best course of action is, that would offer her the best opportunity for money. Once she takes any post high school course, a lot of doors close. If she has a lot of DE, AP credit, starting later wonât matter.
I personally think UCF is making a mistake putting so much emphasis on SAT/ACT, especially for 2021.
School life, and life in general, was so messed up with Covid for the classes of 2020 and 2021. I think quite a few students only got to take one test, and only one try.
I think they are missing a lot of proven good students who just donât test wellâŠand in favor of other students who test well but come from weak backgrounds and/or weak schools rather than rigorous programs that really prepare students for actual college level work.
My daughter doesnât test well either, and got Summer 2020 admission. But she came from a very rigorous program, has a great work ethic, and has a 3.6+ GPA in Biomedical Science at UCF.
I completely agree with you. My daughter doesnât test well either. With covid, she missed many opportunities to take the test. However, she is hardworking, takes hard classes and does well, she has been a dancer since elementary school, was involved in lots of clubs and organizations. In spite of all these extra curricular activities, she always did well and managed to graduate Top 10%. Never did I imagine that these test scores would be so crucial in who they accept. But it is what it is, trying to make the best of the situation and guide her the best way we can. It is not easy because her sister is already at UCF and she really hoped to join us. We make plans, but life often changes them for us. Anyways, trying to stay positive that she will get the YES she is anxiously awaiting for Spring. Keeping my fingers crossed and praying she does.
