Waitlist UCF 2021

Anyone hear anything yet?

Nothing yet, and it is 5/28
still waitlisted. Monday 5/31 is a holiday
so maybe we will hear today. Still hopeful
 Good Luck!

Hi all
been watching this but hadn’t posted anything yet. Son just got offered the option to enroll for Spring Term start after being on the waitlist for the last month. Super excited, but definitely would have loved the option to start in the summer even more so.

Hope all start receiving some good news soon as well!!!

Ok so I was accepted into the Summer Term today and some time after I checked my portal they must have updated my portal. Now they are saying I have missed the deadline to accept, mind you I have not gotten any email from them saying that my portal updated or anything. I thought they usually give you some time to accept but they literally gave me a few hours with no form of update. I don’t know what to do now and I have to wait until Tuesday for answers.

CALL undergraduate admissions first thing Tuesday morning. I think they open at 9 AM.

If I’m not mistaken, when my daughter was accepted for Summer 2020 we received an email with the offer, and a letter, and had 30 days to decide.

Thank you so much

Yea my son’s said 30 days to respond.

Be sure and RESPOND and send deposit prior to the deadline. Also
APPLY for the dorms, and when accepted, pay the deposit immediately.

He can take just ONE online class during Summer B. A great course to take is SLS 1501, Strategies for Success in College. It’s all about time management, study habits, writing for college classes, and other very helpful stuff. It’s a bit of work, but it’s very helpful and an easy A or B.

Actual dorm assignments are based on your acceptance date to Housing, and they matter. There are waitlists for housing every year.

Also, use the roommate matching feature on the Housing Portal for your son to get set up with roommates with similar interests. Once the students connect, they can exchange FB, Instagram and other social media info and get to know each other that way. If the roommates have an earlier housing acceptance, they can “pull in” your son with a better housing assignment.

Thanks for this
great insight! I don’t think he can take a summer course there since he’s admitted for Spring
we were going to just take a class thought the community college here for the summer .

My mistake. I confused your post with another talking about summer acceptance.

Still, have him be aware of the many, many student success resources UCF has available. Lots more in addition to that one course I mentioned above.

I appreciate any info to help make the transition smooth! You seem well-versed in all things UCF!! Once they’ve been offered a term to start, is there anything we could do to get him considered for the summer term by chance or is it just “you’re in and that’s that”? Although the plan is to get some credits in at the CC, it’s be much nicer to be able to have the option of actually enrolling and taking a class at UCF over the summer.

This is my first post so I apologize if I am not nesting my comment/question right. My daughter applied pretty late (in April 2021) and has been waitlisted with an answer allegedly on or before May 31. But it seems like A LOT of applicants are waitlisted. Is it possible that May 31 will come and go with no answer or status change at all? If that happens, what is the best thing for her to do?

There are several parents here who are willing to help where we can. But it’s always a bit challenging because things change, and we don’t want to give mis-information that will mess people up. UCF itself will always be the BEST source of information.

One of the things that has really helped me is the search feature on UCF.edu. Their search tool works better than any I’ve seen on ANY website anywhere! It works better than Google, and has no spam!

And there is an absolute wealth of information on UCF.edu! Every department in this huge university has a TON of info on their webpage. The link I posted above is just one small example. To me, using the UCF.edu search tool is the ONE best way to get information.

For specific topics, direct emails or phone calls also give good results. The overwhelming majority of the people I have contacted at UCF have been extremely helpful.

There is a mandatory orientation program for students, and there is also an optional parent’s orientation. I did the parents’ orientation and found it very helpful. There were some topics I was not interested in, but much of it was very helpful.

One of the things I learned in the parent’s orientation was that there are enormous student resources available at UCF.

Every ethnicity, every area of interest from A to Z, every religion, every imaginable facet of a student’s being has a support group – including dedicated UCF staff whose only job is supporting that particular segment. For such a huge university (70,000+ students), UCF has an amazing commitment to the individual student. And the commitment is REAL, not fake.

So, if I had one piece of “wisdom” to impart, it would be to thoroughly explore UCF.edu and all the resources you would never imagine they provide. SO many of the questions we get asked here are a simple search away on UCF.edu.

First of all, welcome to CC-UCF!

This is just a guess, but since May 31 is a holiday, I would expect waitlist decisions to begin coming out this Tuesday, June 1.

If you don’t hear something one way or the other by Friday, I would email or call.

Sorry – I went on a tangent and forgot to answer the most important part of your post.

Yes, I think the acceptances are “Here’s your offer – accept it or not.” So
with that in mind, the FIRST thing I would do is ACCEPT the offer if you haven’t already.

Then I would reach out to any contacts you may have at UCF to ask about a switch to Summer. If you don’t know anybody, I would call Undergraduate Admissions and say the following:

“We got the offer for Spring 2022, we are very excited, and we have already accepted! If it’s possible, we would like to switch to SummerB 2021 and take a course or two online.”

“If it’s not possible for Summer, we are still thrilled and will see you in the Spring.”

Realistically, one more online student in the Summer doesn’t affect UCF at all for that term. However, it does mean they’ve made an additional commitment for the Fall as well
wanting dorm space, in-person classes, etc.

What you do NOT want to do is try to switch first and have someone misinterpret that as declining Spring 2022.

I appreciate any and all info! I definitely see what you mean about their FAQ page
it’s very extensive and answers a lot of questions/scenarios. We just accepted and will make a call to admissions tomorrow - thank you for the tips!

It’s not just the FAQ pages, though. Just enter any phrase in the search tool and you’ll be amazed at what you get. For example, I just entered “math help” and this is what I got:

That’s just a screenshot of part of Page 1 of links for math help, because the link will not work here for technical reasons. There are another 5-6 links on THIS page and a total of 10 pages of links for that one search.

Use the search tool, people!

Thanks  As we go through this process and learn more, I realize how little guidance we got. (For example, had no idea about Top Ten Knights until way past the deadline. She would have been eligible!)

We live close to UCF; we can’t afford housing, so that rules the other universities out. I guess
if she has to remain on the waitlist she can go to a state college in hopes they’ll eventually give her a slot (and accept her credits earned at the state college). But if they decline her, I have no idea what her options are. If UCF declines you, can you apply again a couple semesters or a year later?
