Waitlist

So, did anyone else get waitlisted? Yeah, it sucks, but we still have a chance. Anybody got statistics on past waitlist yields at BC?

yeah me too. But I wasn’t expecting to get in so it was a surprise.
31 ACT
3.56 GPA with a solid junior and senior year
Solid transcript in terms of difficulty of classes.
Two 4 year varsity atheltics

Last year I believe there was just under 3,000 who accepted a spot on the wait list. I am one of about 100 of those who now attend BC.

BCHSEagles: how did they accept you? Did you send in more information and grades?
I got waitlisted too :(

2230 SAT
33 ACT
95 GPA
Waitlisted

Got into NYU Stern, so I’m actually okay with being waitlisted.

You could write a letter when the wait list opens up on May 1 expressing your continued passion for BC. Honestly, there’s not a whole lot that you can do. It was a very competitive year with the number of applicants. Its going to depend on how many students accept a spot in the class which is targeted at 2,250 students.

My daughter was waitlisted last year and then got in. She did write a letter back to the Admissions person who sent her the waitlist letter and expressed her high interest in BC. Along with stressing her interest and qualifications she did mention that she would not be seeking any Financial Aid (we didn’t qualify for anything). If you are not qualified for any financial aid, it might help to mention it since they would have to consider that based on what was left for incoming students. As BCHSEagles stated, there may not be too much you can do, but a letter can never hurt. We read on this discussion board that it was a good idea and so she went for it. Good luck!!

I was waitlisted as well, hopefully many decide to turn down the waitlist offer if they are already in good schools.
Anyone know when waitlisters actually hear back? It says July 1st at the latest but there is no way it is actually that late correct?

Last year letters stating that the wait list was closed were sent out in the midde of June. Though students were accepted throughout may and the beginning of June.

I was waitlisted but I think it was kind of a “Tufts Syndrome” thing. I will not be staying on the waitlist, so hopefully that will open up a spot for someone who wants it more than I do! Good luck to those of you that are staying on!

Aside from sending a brief one page letter to the school letting them know of your continued interest and any new information about you, the most important thing you can do is “move on”. Now is the time to focus your energy on your “plan b” schools.

The chances of getting off the waitlist have traditionally been quite low, and it changes from year to year. And the factors are nothing in your control.

Do not wait until May 1 to write a letter, however, since BC may go to the WL on that date, depending on deposits. Send the letter in a week or two, after the shock has warn off and you have time to compose a good, ‘Why BC’ letter. Search for scottj’s posts on cc. He offers great suggestions for your letter.

Good luck.

Hey I got waitlisted and put my name on it but now that I’ve thought about it I really don’t want to be on it. How would I get my name off? Send an email to the admission office? I’m going to end up going somewhere else anyway and don’t want to be admitted from the waitlist in place of someone else.

I got waitlisted, but I’m still trying to decide whether to put my name on the waitlist. As of right now, it looks as though I am going to Colgate. But BC was my top (more realistic) choice. I’m not sure what to do =/

Can’t hurt to put your name on the list. Better to do it now than risk looking back on it one day wishing you had and asking yourself “what if”. You never know what might happen.

I got waitlisted too. Really sucks considering it was my first choice. Got into NEU honors so that’s my backup for now.

Sent from my ADR6300 using CC App

Waitlisted, but I’m having technical problems with the waitlist registration form. Is anyone else having problems with entering their Date of Birth? When I put in my mm/dd/yyyy, I keep getting “Invalid DOB.” Help!

That happened to me, then I checked the website, and it said that you have to use Internet Explorer. I was using google chrome before. It should work with IE

Ah thanks. I’m using google chrome too. I submitted it by following the “If you have a mac” instructions. Thanks for replying. :)

So what are you guys thinking of doing? If you place your enrollment deposit in one school, but get taken off the waitlist and accepted into BC, that means we’re allowed to withdraw admission from the school we placed our enrollment deposit in?
