Waitingseemslong, Michigankid, Tymesflyby, and Nickburley63 --

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am so happy for all of you! Welcome to the
Notre Dame Family!

kansas_girl, admissions does send out a thank you note as standard policy. Hang tight and hoping for good news!

Thanks momtofour. I was really wondering about that.

momtofour -

The Orientation weekend is the last weekend before my other children return to school (elementary, middle school and high school) so I know that it will be difficult for me to stay overnight because it will be a "crazy" time at our household. We live near Chicago so my husband and I were thinking of driving back and forth to Notre Dame that weekend as we can't leave the other kids alone. I was thinking of going to ND on Friday and Saturday with my husband and then he would go alone on Sunday (besides, I hate saying "Good-bye" - crying about it already!). Is this doable(is that a word?)?
I know that it will be a lot of driving but it seems to be our only option.

Heycow-
Your plan would work but I am afraid you might miss something with the traffic on I-80 etc. This is a special time with some great memories. I was in the same situation. My kids had started school on the Tuesday before orientation. 3 separate schools. We had that horrible rainstorm and they closed I-80. My husband left on Friday with my daughter to get her moved in and I waited for the others to get home. I ended up taking trains to South Bend with my other three.

We just hauled them to all of the events with their Ipods, gameboys etc. They loved dining at South and North. (all free that weekend!) I know that it is lots of work but I am so glad I was there. When I left, we had a good feeling as to what ND is all about and felt she was in good hands. I don't know if I would have had this feeling if I had missed events.

As for the goodbye, you are not alone. There were plenty that started their crying on Saturday! Once the pep rally ends, the kids have about a half hour to say goodbye to their families as there is an event scheduled for them. (However, I did hear that they are changing some of this around a bit for this year's orientation.) Good luck getting your child ready!

so if I didn't get a call yet, would you consider that bad news?

ahhh I got in! does anyone know when parents weekend is??

Keddy,

Great news!!! I was hoping for you.

Good Luck to others still to receive that call!!!

Keddy, Congrats on your admission! Your orientation (with parents!) is August 22-24. You will move in the morning of the 22nd. The only "official" parents weekend is held junior year. Keep your questions coming!

Congrats to everyone who has gotten off the waitlist! I'm sure you guys will have an awesome time at ND! Do you think receiving an ROTC scholarship from the school will help me get off the waitlist?

kansas_girl, at this point they are rounding out the class a bit. If there is a need for another female in the rotc program and there aren't many of you on the list, you are most likely in good shape. Make sure to express your interest and let them know that you will attend if taken off that list! Stay patient!

keddy -

Congrats!!! I am so happy for you...!

thanks everyone for all of the encouragement and advice! i can't tell you how excited i am!

ROTC is a government program. We are not a club and we have no affiliation with the University administration or admissions office.

Congrats to all. No call here:( I hope they are not done yet with their list.

Got in on Saturday!!! Can't wait!!! And I'm sure they're not done calling yet. Last year a good friend of mine didn't get in 'till late June! Keep the faith! :)

Congrats TXsegND!!!!
did you send more info in?? Thanx for the encouragement.

anyone else get any information about the waitlist? i heard that there are three waves any idea on when the next one starts?

A lot of kids from the West and East coasts start to have serious second thoughts about spending 4 years in Indiana and so there is usually a fair amount taken off the wait list. Don't give up hope.
