Waitlist

Anyone find out when the waitlist people will be notified? Also what are some of the stats of people in the waitlist.

I haven't heard anything yet. The letter said June 30th I believe.

STATS
-SAT: 730M 610V
-3.9UW,
-7 AP's
-6/150
-Varsity Tennis - State Sectional Champs '03 + '04
-Plenty of extracurriculars, many having to do with my dedication to my major
-Employment
-OOS - New Jersey

If anyone has heard anything new, let us know.

I got a letter posted on my unc webpage that said I would hear something in the next couple of weeks. The date on the letter was wrong (March 30). I believe that it was around May 26 when I checked and saw that message. Now that letter is gone and has been replaced with the generic "your application is complete" message from earlier in this long, painful process. We should be hearing something soon! Good luck to everyone.

Got my "thanks, but no thanks" letter yesterday (was on waitlist). Sigh. Stats: instate, 4.0 wgpa, 1310 SAT

I got a call from UNC yesterday saying that everyone who didn't get in got a letter already, and that the waitlist was narrowed down to 20 and i'm still on it

Hmm I haven't gotten a call or letter. This could be interesting.

BabieBluNC23, are you sure that everyone that did not get in already got a letter. Wouldn't recieving a letter depend on where you live? Also wouldn't they admit more than 20 people from the waiting list.

All i know is that Stephen Farmer called and told my mother that they had sent out letters to everyone who was definately not on the waitlist anymore, maybe they had just sent it a day or so ago so depending on where you live you may not have recieved it yet. And he did say that there are only 20 people on the waiting list now...maybe you could call and ask them if you havent heard yet

BabieBluNC23, what are your stats?

Still no word from UNC for me. I guess I am still on the waitlist. Has anyone else heard anything?

I got the thank you but no thank you letter Saturday... I'm in NJ

GOT IN TODAY!!!!!!!! (off the waitlist of course)
but i've already decided to go to nyu so im sending my card back in saying i wont be able to attend. shoot, unc was my dream school too but I have everything arranged for me to go to nyu already. if only i had gotten in unc rd......*sigh

BigRed, Did admissions from UNC call you or did you just get mail saying that you were in? Did they give you any information regarding the number of people who accepted a place on the wait list or any details concerning the waitlist process? Congratulations on being accepted.

Er, UNC was your dream school, and you got off the waitlist, but you're still going to NYU...? Why accept a place on the list in the first place then?

BigRed
All you have sent in to NYU is a $1000 housing advance, and the $500 deposit. If UNC is your dream school, it is also $20,000 cheaper than NYU, so the $1500 lost means nothing, no?

jacksonville: i just received a envelope in the mail. i didn't get a call or anything.

reason why im still going to nyu is because i plan to work in the city when i graduate so it would benefit me to study business in the city (nyc) and be able to forge connections there. plus i've made a promise to the nyu coach to play tennis there (since he got me in). the more i thought about it the more I kinda liked nyu but honestly if i had gotten into both at the same time, i would've chosen unc. plus my dad isn't very high on me going to unc because he thinks the quality of students there isn't particularly high (the whole in-state vs. out of state quality of students) and that going to business school in nyc would just help me more after i graduate. and my parents said paying for nyu wouldnt be a problem even though i kinda feel bad for making them pay so much.

Got my rejection letter today. I am instate. Good luck to everyone else.

There was an article in the Durham Herald Sun this morning stating that UNC will not be offering anyone admission from the waitlist, as significantly more freshmen than anticipated have decided to attend (they loosely credit the national championship). I know that isn't what the people following this thread want to hear, but I figured it is helpful information for those trying to cement their colllege plans.

FYI, here is the article: http://www.heraldsun.com/durham/4-620725.html
