Has everyone heard about the waitlist? I haven't heard anything yet and I'm getting really worried.

deerpark, A friend of my son’s just accepted a place off of WM’s waitlist. He is from MWGS in Richmond. I don’t know when he was notified, but it was very recently. Hope this helps.

We are diligently working on the waitlist. All students on the waitlist will receive either an emailed or mailed communication next week regarding the status of the waitlist for the remainder of the summer.

The waitlist has not yet been closed as we are still awaiting responses from numerous students.

WOW, thats awesome how W&M has their own profile. Way to keep in touch with students/ parents!

everytime i have a voicemail on my phone, i hope it’s from william and mary lol
but hasnt happened yet :/

Thank you W&M Admissions. I was getting worried too. The orientation for transfer students is this Friday and I haven’t heard anything yet. It’s good to know the list is not closed yet.

We are currently making calls regarding both the freshman and transfer waitlists. Unfortunately it’s a slow process as we have to await responses from those we call when can take several days but we’re hard at work on both lists.

Note that this Friday’s program is a transfer welcome day, not orientation. Transfer and freshman orientation begins August 20. Any transfer student who cannot attend this Friday’s event will not miss any required information.

W&M Admissions, is it possible for you to tell us about how many people are being accepted from the waitlist? And how many people are on the waitlist? Thanks!

i got a call today but couldnt answer becuase i was in school…i called like three times but couldnt talk to the lady that called me…
hopefully that was a good call… im extremely nervous!

deerpark, about 1200 students elected to remain on the waitlist. Not sure if we’ve run totals of the number who have been admitted from the freshman waitlist but it’s likely around 80-100 students. We anticipate admitting about 15 from the transfer waitlist.

jso1226, sorry you could not reach the person who called you yesterday. You can call our main number (757-221-4223) if you wish to try to get in touch with someone

thank you wm admission for input.
i called the lady again today several times and even called that number you gave me …
but still couldnt get a hold of her.
so i left a voice mail.
im just dying to know if i got in or not… no emails or mails either! haha.
do they notify you even if you didnt get in?

It’s possible that the dean who called you is out of the office. If you call the main admission number and explain that you’ve left several voicemails and can’t get ahold of the dean who called you we can likely get you to a dean who can answer your questions

omg i just got in!!!
thank you!!!:):):):):):):)

Congrats JSO!! Glad the suspense is over.

congrats JSO

Great news, jso. When I read about enormous waitlists and so few students being admitted that way, it almost seems like a false hope - good to know an actual CCer on the W & M forum has been accepted this year. Congrats!

thank you so much!!!:)))

Congrats. Welcome to W&M!

I just can’t believe it… Turned down again, this time from the Waitlist. W&M has been my dream school since elementary school. I have friends and family there and now I have to tell them I won’t be seeing them once again. I felt honored that I was given spot on the Waitlist and not flat out rejected like the first time, but this just hurts so much more because I was given a glimpse of hope. I drove 3 1/2 hours to see visit the school with my cousins the other day and I don’t know what to tell them. I don’t know what those 15 students did to get taken, but I gave everything I had and it just was not good enough… I will always love W&M and plan to donate to the College after I graduate from GMU, but I’m going to be hurting for quite some time. I feel heartbroken.

king26, we certainly understand your disappointment regarding what I assume is the transfer waitlist. The transfer admission process this year was more competitive than ever with a record number of applications and very few students being admitted from the waitlist. Those who weren’t selected should not feel like they did anything wrong. It is merely a reflection of the strength of our applicant pool.

Also note that there are students who have applied to transfer mulitiple times and if you remain interested in W&M you can contact our transfer dean and discuss what you can do to make yourself ready and as competitive as possible for spring admission.
