Any news on the waitlist? It's about to be June! I know you said that every student will be notified before June 15, but are they any chances that you might be able to determine if you are going to use the waitlist sooner than that?

Unfortunately there’s no news yet. We monitor our class numbers every day and evaluate our class needs. All we can guarantee is that all students will hear from us by June 15. If we know any information earlier we will contact students earlier but that is not always possible.

Since you’re still determining the waitlist and other years you knew earlier, does this mean waitlist admittance numbers will be smaller or you won’t go to the waitlist this year?

WM admission updated their facebook status saying that they would notify all freshman applicants on the waitlist of their admission decision via email this week. I guess that means they will definitely be taking some people off the waitlist because they didn’t blatantly say that they wouldn’t take students, like with the transfer waitlist. Best the luck to you smileandlaugh! I’m hoping for a positive decision too but who knows?

Edit: the status actually says a waitlist update will be emailed to the freshman applicants. Not sure if that encompasses an actual final admission decision. Sorry for the confusion.

I just opted to remain on the ‘final’ waitlist. Well William and Mary, I’m not going down without a fight. Here goes round 4 with continued, guarded optimism. half-smiles through the tears

Me too! It kinda of stinks, but at least we know we’ve done everything we can! Good luck to you. I figure it’s pretty difficult to get off of this one, but it’s still early June, so I’m optimistic (since many people find out in June about other waitlists). So fingers crossed, but I’m focusing on the school I chose, VT!

All students on the waitlist were emailed last night letting them know that we do not anticipate admitting any additional students into the Class of 2015. However, students can elect to remain on the waitlist until August 1 should things change. We took only a handful of students off this year’s waitlist so to say we went to the waitlist would be accurate but also way overstating things. We certainly appreciate everyone’s continued interest and we don’t want to be a downer but we would discourage even guarded optimism as it is incredibly rare for us to admit students from this final waitlist. We would however encourage you to get excited about the institution at which you’ve enrolled and to enjoy your summer.

What a bummer. I got the email too. I think I will probably stay on this final waitlist as well. Smileandlaugh, what a coincidence - I have enrolled at VT as well!
WM admission - I’m confused. You went to the waitlist this year? I thought the class of 2015 was filled up. Why weren’t other freshman applicants on the waitlist notified of that movie?

candycrazie, again to say we went to the waitlist would be overstating the situation. The class was virtually full once all deposits were received. Yes, a very small handful of students were admitted from the waitlist but to take only a handful of students is akin to saying we didn’t really use the waitlist. When we activate the waitlist to take large numbers of students, we make that announcement although we do not communicate with individual students until we have made a decision on their specific application. However, in cases such as this, when for all intents and purposes, we didn’t go to the waitlist, the only notification we can provide is the one we sent via email a few days ago.

I was on the waitlist and saw this e-mail in my junk the other night. However, I was having issues with my e-mail and I think it got deleted somehow :(

Is there any way I can get a link so I can opt to accept the final waitlist offer? If I e-mail the admissions office, can they resend the e-mail to me?

jessliving, if you call or email or office (757-221-4223 or admission@wm.edu) we can provide you the link or you can email your region dean and let them know you would like to remain on the final waitlist. Finally, you can private message us and we’ll send you the link.
