Waitlisted at Ivy league

I have been waitlisted for the Masters in Journalism program at Columbia. Does anyone have prior experience of being waitlisted and then accepted? Would love to hear some such experiences and whether it worth the...ahem...wait :-)......

I was waitlisted at SIPA.

A very good friend of mine applied to Columbia's b-school about 10 years ago and was waitlisted. He went to Stanford and is now richer than god.

A former boss of mine went to Medill at Northwestern for journalism (about 30 years ago). She says half her class there had been waitlisted at Columbia.

Apparently Columbia just looooooooooooves their waitlist.

is richer than bill gates :p haha j/k

Columbian, when did you receive your decision letter from Columbia? Did they email you the letter or send it through regular mail? My D has applied to Columbia's Journalism School & is still waiting to hear from them. Based on an email they sent last week, she thought she would have heard something by now. She is currently living in China so if they sent it by snail mail, it could be awhile before she receives anything.

Just curious...is Columbia your first choice? Where do you want to go now that you are waitlisted there?

Does anyone have any idea what Columbia typically gives for financial aid?

Thanks for any helpful info.

Hey kwoo,

I had to call them up. I have not yet received a letter from them but they have promised one via postal mail. Apparently, this seems to be the norm with them. Has your D received acceptances from any other school?

Considering the responses here, I guess I should forget about Columbia.....

Columbian,
My D has received 3 acceptances and a waitlist so far. What about you? She is still waiting to hear from Columbia & one other school. Do you live in the U.S. or are you overseas?
