Waitlisted at SCS. What can I do?

So CMU SCS is really my number one choice and I really want to go there. Is there anything I can do to help me get off the wait list? I have an update on my AMC and AIME scores that I can send.

Join the club. Waitlisted for SCS :(

Waitlisted to SCS too :frowning:
Accepted to CIT Computer Engineering though

If you ultimately don’t get into CS but get ECE, just do ECE with a software track (CS electives). It gets you to the same place in the end if you work hard enough.

No, I also got wait-listed at MCS for math.

A LOT of people in ECE do a CS track – so really you guys are in the same group.

Plus a bunch of people transfer to CS every year.

Waitlisted SCS and CIT-ECE. Well so much for that dream. jklol they’re other fish in the sea.

How do I return the waitlist form for the SCS?

How many of you are staying on the priority waitlist for SCS?

My S will be on the regular waitlist for SCS - he got admitted to H&SS.

iamthebist - S’s college counselor told him to write a paragraph about why he wants to attend SCS and send it back. You should always write something for every school that you want to remain on the waitlist.

@iamthebist - u can fill in the online form also (https://webapp.as.cmu.edu/waitlist/</a>)

I’ll be staying on the priority waitlist for ECE, not SCS. Anyone else staying on the priority waitlist for ECE?

@megan12
who would you write it to?

S just wrote it at the bottom of the waitlist acceptance paper. He didn’t write it to anyone in particular. It’s just for the admissions people.

According to this page, you can send an email.
[The Waiting List - Forms](http://www.cmu.edu/enrollment/admission/waiting/forms.html)

I don’t want to discourage you or sound nasty, but nobody has been accepted from the waitlist to SCS over the past years. Realistically speaking then, being on the waitlist for SCS is pratically equivalent to outright rejection with only a few added bragging rights. I suggest you concentrate on getting accepted elsewhere instead.

Hey bruno123, you have any idea on how many people have gotten accepted into CIT or ECE from the waitlist in the past few years??

We were told that SCS over enrolled the past couple of years but played it safe this year. Don’t know if that will make a difference in the waitlist or not.
